Stable shoes for wide feet

Hi all! I have wide feet and need a stable shoe. I've previously used the Vapor line which I loved (aside from the fit) and more recently moved to the New Balance 996v5 (in 2E width, which are ok.

The Vapors felt great, low to the court (which I like), and light. They weren't wide enough however.

The 996s also felt low to the court, were relatively light, but the cushioning didn't seem all that great. Additionally, I couldn't quite get a pair to fit me correctly. While the width was good in 2E, a 9.5 pair was too short (my toes were hitting the front) and a size 10 was way too big (my foot was sliding around all over the place).

Any recommendations on a shoe that might work for me based on that? I definitely need something that's available in 2E width, and am looking for lightweight, low to the ground, good cushioning, and stable. Cheers.

Holy crap. You are essentially asking for the perfect shoe :cautious: , which I am not sure exists.

Low to the ground usually means the cushioning isn't good.

Lightweight usually means some stability or cushioning is sacrificed.

The Vapor 9.5 was almost a "perfect shoe" for many, but it isn't as wide.

You are really asking for a lot. The shoe you seek may exist but don't be disappointed if nobody comes up with anything.

I am asking to see if it exists, hence the post. I'm not saying it does :)

I get that with low to the ground and stability likely means less cushioning.

I guess I should simplify the question - is there a shoe similar to the Vapor 9.5 that is wider and /or offers wide sizes? Some people said that the NB 996 was that, and it's close, but the particular sizing intricacies don't work for me. I have the 996v6 on order, and will see how that is, but I'm looking for other options.

Are any of the modern Vapor shoes wide foot friendly? It's hard to tell without trying them on.

Yes. You asked a question, and I answered. I never accused you of claiming it existed or not.

I wouldn't call the other vapors wide foot friendly. I usually wear size 12 in Cages but had to go up a whole size to 13 for both the V11 and the VP2.
similar to the Vapor 9.5
Roger Pro 2 would be my guess based on what others have said. They won't be quite as light, but not significantly heavier. Not wide in the midfoot but a slightly above-average toebox width. There is also maybe the Lotto Raptors? Wide and cushioned but not QUITE AS LOW/LIGHT as the V9.5. Heard great things about both.

One that is relatively new is the Wilson Rush Pro 4.5 which comes in Wide. Not sure if it is wide enough though.

The current generation of the Adidas Barricades are also surprisingly "lower than expected". I also size up in these to 12.5 however this isn't because they are narrow (they are wider than average) but rather the ankle collar padding is so thick that it pushes you entire foot more forward into the shoe.

If you can tolerate sizing differences, I (as a wide footer) thoroughly enjoyed the Diadora B.Icon 2 sized up to 12.5 and the AG-LT23 Ultra sized up to 12.5 also. These two are narrow, not quite as light as the V9.5, but still very enjoyable.

None of these shoes can truly go toe to toe with the actually Vapor 9.5 though so please temper your optimism (if any) when trying these. Hopefully you can find a store to let you try them all, or can order online from somewhere with a friendly return policy.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!

I'll go research some of these options and see what might work best. Cheers.
