Stan the man is back

Stan the man will be back at Madrid Open. Now this is one man I have faith in.
Who do you find solace in these difficult times? This desert of clay is thirsty for a shower of Swiss Milk and as the mighty Fed is serving the third world in Africa the universe now demands his brother to stand up to the monster(s) of the clay.
Djoker the beast is weak. Thiem the prince is beyond redemption.
It's the MAN I have faith in and I think you should too.

LOL! Stanimal's game isn't built to beat Nadal's game on clay. Stan takes the ball way too late and hits it above shoulder level which kills him. That thing jumps up way too high for him on clay.

Man I ain't talking about beating Nadal.
That seems impossible at the moment at least at the FO. I am talking about standing up to Nadal and provide some entertainment unlike yesterday's Thiem match against Nadal that was so boring.
Also I don't even want him to beat Nadal at FO. I like Nadal better. But I like competition better than both of them.

Nadal is 6-1 vs Wawrinka on clay and all of his wins were comfortable straight setters so it doesn't seem likely that Stan could do much better than Thiem especially in his current state of play.

Not to mention that Nadal had to choke (he had 6-2 lead in the tiebreak) to allow Stan his only victory over him on clay. Plus, it was a night session match where the conditions are slower due to a colder weather and the bounce is lower, all that helps Wawa enormously. A guy like Delpo or that headcase Fognini have a better chance against him than Thiem/Stan.

I don't want to argue because I agree with you but all I want is a good showing against Nadal like Fed in his best years or Djoker or maybe even Thiem's last year. And just because there is no one else out there I think a motivated Stan can put up a show like old days. We know how he brings his best game at slams. It is just a wish though. I ain't making a prophecy.

How about saying that it would be really nice to see Stan back regardless of if he is competition for Nadal or not?

A nice photo here:

If someone technically clever person wants to extract the photo from the tweet and stick it in Nadal News feel free...it's quite a nice one of Nadal.
Obviously I would be happy to see Stan back.
As a fan would you like to see a great first round or a great final at FO?
I would like that to be a good final or a semi or even the quarter.
So that is what I mean by Stan against Nadal because Nadal is always going to be in the later rounds. At this point Stan vs Nadal is the best FO final I could ask for if Stan comes back better.

Not all Africa is the third world. Look at the Portuguese Madeira islands, geographically located in North Africa but being part of the European Union.
Ya sure man but "he is serving the third world in Africa".
Zambia is a third world country.

It would be nice to see Stan in an FO Final although I don't think he would have much chance against Nadal. But I hope he comes back whatever - I think he adds a lot to the tour. He seems to have good relationships with most of the players so I think they would like to see him back too.

Stan wont offer competition to Nadal. Only prime Novak can but he is in bad form so no competition for Nadal this year

Brother if he is in the zone he gives competition to anyone and everyone. Sure Nadal will grind him down even if Stan hits peak but that will be much more of competition than what Thiem presented yesterday. Also I don't know how his recovery is or how his level will be still his comeback gives me hope more than anything this clay season.

Glad he’s coming back. (see avatar)

But he came back once and it wasn’t pretty. The size of that scar indicates it was a lot more than a minor tear. Worried he’ll never be the same.

If I were in his camp I’d tell him to play clay, then skip the grass - tricky footing and with his huge grip change he’s never winning Wimbledon. Use the time to assess where the knee is and get ready for the hard courts.

Wait a minute. We will say Stan is back when he is near the level he had when he left.
For example, for me:
Federer 2017 is back
Nadal in 2018 clay season is back
Del Potro end 2017- start 2018 - We could say he is, after a long journey back.
Djokovic is not back, yet
Murray, we are looking for news about him.

Well he lost to Johnson in the first round but I saw some encouraging signs. The movement is there, the strokes are there, serve incl. It was quite a close match and most of the points were on Stan's racquet as per usual, but he was a little impatient in too many points and just a bit dumb at times, particularly on returns. He had a break point early in the second set, ran around Johnson's 2nd serve and went for a big hail mary inside-DTL forehand that had more on it than the serve itself.

Johnson played the big points well and picked up a solid win there.

Hope he gets it right at RG. Would love a Nad-Stan match.
