Stan Wawrinka to win Australian open?

Semi-Pro
I think he can pull off the upset and take novak out. Murray is no match for Stan and has lost his last three against the Swiss. Depends on the draw but Stan can win this. Betting odds are at 14/1, he has definitely been the money at the slams for the past two years, only issue is his inconsistency but he has not been beaten before the semis since 2014 and in 2013 he did lose in the fourth round against Nole.

He certainly has the tools. The biggest challenge is consistency, and of course the draws (subject to the whims of the organizers, of course).

Stan may not be in Murray's half of the draw, though. :)

Ain't that bad. Murray fails most always against Stan, Nole AND Fed but still he's #2. :(

I guess the joke is on you.

Wawrinka in this kind of mood just doesn't allow Djokovic to play the way he likes. Gives him absolutely no rhythm like Nadal does.
Not to mention Novak could have been better in all the Slam meetings (and the H2H which, unlike the one with Nadal, is sooo one-sided), but you seem to have never witnessed peak Djokovic, darling.

I have, in matches against player who are either old, declined heavily or don't have the firepower. The final in Doha this year or the 2013 AO semis against Ferrer. A heavily declining Nadal or Ferrer simply can't hurt him which puts his mind at ease = he can play loose and dominate them. He'd never dominate an aggressor who is in-form. As I said, if Wawrinka is in the mood - Djokovic won't beat him.

Lol

That logic of yours is becoming more and more hilarious with each passing day. You blame literally everything Djokovic achieves on the level of his opponents. Nadal is declined, Federer is old, Wawa is inconsistent, Murray let Lendl go, Ferrer is... well, Ferrer... Like he was gifted all the Slams and these years on top of the list. But somehow, Djokovic spanked them all at least 20 times each. :D

Tell me that Federer isn't old, Nadal hasn't declined a lot, Murray is as good as he was pre-op, Wawrinka is consistent and I'll let it go. The competition is a TOTAL JOKE.

That's because since about mid 2014 when Nadal won his 14th Slam he's got no major rival. Only old, declining or unfit people.

Federer doesn't have the energy to play longer than 3 sets, Nadal is just crap and Murray can't beat a top 5 player to save his life. Wawrinka shows up in 1 tournament in the entire season.

Don't really care whose peak is higher, tennis is about playing at a high level consistently.

If Rg 2014 was stans peak, well its not a very high level of tennis LOL. Peak play usually means a straight set affair. He's the only guy in top 5 to not win a slam in straights.

Novak's average level is already higher than the peak levels of 90% players on tour. Stan can easily get beaten by a nonamer, LOL.

And stans h2h with Nole is actually getting worse year on year.

Tell me that Djokovic didn't achieve a lot already before mid 2014, during the time when all other players were at a higher level too. Tell me he didn't dominate peak Nadal and prime Federer 5 years ago. Tell me that Federer didn't play a high level of tennis this year, and I will let it all go.

Lol and Djokovic did it one time only out of 18 Slam finals that he played - against Murray in the 2011 AO final. Give Wawrinka Murray as his opponent and he smokes him.

Who cares.

Nobody cares.

Come on mate, don't let t_p get to you. You should know he doesn't mean these things he's saying, he's just trolling to get a rise out of you. Don't fall for it! ;)

I never denied that but the competition was a lot tougher so he achieved a lot less. 2015 was like stealing candy from a 3-year old.

Tell me he didn't dominate peak Nadal and prime Federer 5 years ago.

A 30-year old Federer is definitely not in his prime. Apart from Doha he had to wait at the very end of the season to finally win a title when both Djokovic and Nadal fell off the radar.

Nadal was still in his prime but not at his peak. 2011 Nadal did as well in big tournaments as he did in 2014 lol.

Tell me that Federer didn't play a high level of tennis this year, and I will let it all go.

For a 34-year old. The level he produced wasn't 1/3 as good as when he was in his prime. Prime Federer would never allow Djokovic to dominate the tour, lol not even close and peak Federer would dominate him himself.

Nole doesn't need to prove he can dominate, you do realise the weak era theory hurts federer a lot more, right?

Fed never won 3 slams against strong competition.

LOL. I'll just take the first year. 4 players IN THEIR PRIMES from FEDERER'S GENERATION - Hewitt, Roddick, Safin, Nalbandian. A bunch of other excellent players who played well - Moya, Agassi, Coria (on clay), Henman, Gaudio played a great FO.
