stand recommendation for x-st

can someone recommend a decent stand for my x-st?

i'm looking at the gamma one and it seems like it bolts to the machine directly?

is there another solution where i can remove the stringer without much hassle?

or does anyone have pictures of how the machine is mounted?

Below is a picture of how the machine is mounted. I've also included a picture of the caster wheels I put on the stand so I could wheel it around the house. It works great for me. I'd have to look up the size of the caster wheels if you are interested.

I like the casters. Where did you get those?? I'd like to get those for mine.. Did you have to drill holes?

The stand can be attached with 4 bolts. As you can see, Mikler used the small legs to attach the stand base. It comes with bolts, but that's a good idea..

Those are pretty sad...made to pop into a pre-inserted receiver, usually a cheap wood or plastic case of some sort.

IF you are going to move the stand about, get some rubber wheels rather than plastic casters. They will cost more but will hold up better and feel/sound much better when in use. Woodworking stores like Rockler or WoodCraft will be more expensive for these...you could check Northern Tool or Harbor Freight for less expensive models. Even Home Depot or Lowe's should have what you need.

That said, I'm still in favor of a microwave cart for table top stringers. Looks OK, more stable than the metal stands and has built-in storage. Check garage sales next weekend...bet you find more than one ;) .

Are these the ones you ordered?? Can't find the exact mm listing, these show inches. Just want to make sure..

You may want to confirm with Bret (GammaTech) but my order says:

Great Lakes Caster - Un-Hooded Twin Wheel - 75mm Black Twin Wheel Un-Hooded Caster with 8mm x 12mm Threaded Stem

My sad casters have performed admirably for over 2 years and I even have to drop my stringer down a few inches and up a few inches when I string in the garage.

Threaded stem vs pop-in stem is the big difference.

Apologies to those with the 'upgraded' 75mm casters vs the 50mm; BUT, I'll take rubber wheels over plastic any time. ;) I've installed plenty(and swapped out plastic for rubber) on tables, chairs, workbenches, etc. Plastic works fine(especially the larger ones) on carpet...I prefer rubber on any hard surface.

Again, GlenK, make sure you order the right stems...pop-in will NOT hold properly in a threaded receiver.

OK, thanks guys. I'll just take the pad that's in the leg out and head to a home depot and see what they have. It's close and a good place to start..

I looked there and Lowes but did not have any luck. Perhaps I was not looking in the right place though. Even though these are plastic, they are sturdy.

It is definitely a threaded stem.
the diameter of the rubber foot bolt is M8
length is 16mm
thread pitch is 1.25mm.
so M8 x 16 x 1.25mm.

there are 2 different casters thru great lakes, both are M8 & correct pitch. they have 12 or 25mm length bolts, i'd get the 25mm length ones. so M8 x 25 threaded caster.
