Stanford Men

Wolfpack 4-2 over the Card. Some issues to sort out no doubt. Some inconsistent output from the lineup. HVDS continues to shine. Banerjee had a very good win over Shick. But was expecting more from Kang who went 0-2 on this road trip. Need wins from him if Stanford is to test the quality teams. Also, Razeghi's absence down at 6 is a problem. He was almost a lock.

Let's hope for better days following this 0-2 start in ACC play.
I would think Kang at 4 is automatic.
Surprised they lost this one. I didn’t see the match but looks like they had some one-sided sets either way. Maybe the coast to coast travel is too much. I’m sure they’re frustrated. Razeghi played doubles. Not sure why he’s not playing singles.

Raj is injured. Kang normally would have won that one if it was played outdoors. but even if Kang won, #5 and 6 got blown out so it wouldn't have mattered. Again if this was played outdoors, most likely Basing would have won his match so this is a win if they meet again in NCAA championships in may

The sophomore class of Kang, Rivera and Godsick needs to step up. They were the #1 TRN recruiting class from a year ago. Yet their returns this dual season have been mediocre at best. Singles records below:

Kang: Played 5, Won 1, Lost 2, DNF 2
Rivera: P10, W4, L3, DNF3
Godsick: P10, W3, L3, DNF4

These results have largely come playing in the 4-6 spots. Next year, Basing and HVDS will be gone. The Card only have Mark Krupkin coming in who going by his junior record won't crack the lineup or even if he does will have a tough transition to college tennis. So these three guys have to step up in the lineup. They are hugely talented but it's time to have that show on court and more frequently than it has so far.

The one bright spot is this year's freshman, Razeghi who is 4-2 in seven matches played, all at 6.

there is recruit coming from england from the rumors

My bad. Basavareddy did get a WC to Indian Wells. Plays Bu of China with a chance to go up against Medvedev if he wins.

Other interesting matchups: Tien v Shelton if he gets through R1. And Fonseca v Fearnley with the winner going on to play Draper.

Meddie has been way off form lately and with this slow courts and fat balls,,, he has no chance against nishesh

Boyer continues the good work with a win over the former Illini, Vukic (atp 64) in a third set breaker. His reward? A date with Tommy Paul in R2!

flash in the pan, i haven't seen anything from his game or way he plays that saids he can be top 100 in tour, in order to get there he will have to develop some weapons or not ganna happen
I'm sure if we searched hard enough we could find you downplaying Kovacevic or Giron around here. You're prediction of doom for CS is a good as gold for his success. LOL

Hey there! I've been away from this forum for a while, and I wanted to watch some tennis action on the cams but, to my surprise, I cannot find the usual link to the live video on the Stanford website. Have they gotten rid of their live cams in the stadium?

Seminoles didn't have a chance

Agree Banerjee needs to be more consistent as his best level isn't often on display. But a loss to Suresh isn't really a bad loss. Many on this forum and elsewhere are projecting Suresh as an ATP pro. Big game player with probably the best serve in college tennis.

DK has some crazy good hands at net. I can see him being a very good ATP doubles player.

lost the doubles point to Notre dame ? are these guys even ranked ? they are ranked #55, it turns out
Yea that was definitely disappointing. But good comeback by Stanford in singles to seal another easy win.

ND has a good #1 (13.63 utr) but their lines 2-6 are 12.83 down to 12.21 which is pretty low for a ranked D1 team. Don't see them winning much with that caliber of lineup.

Surprisingly close match against Louisville, it was scary for a while there. but Godsick came thru in the clincher in the 3rd set. Too bad Harsh didn't get to finish his match, in the 3rd set tiebreaker, 8-8, not sure why they didn't just finish it ? lol

Were Banerjee, Basing and HVDS rested? Hope it's not something injury-related. It seems Banerjee played dubs.

Actually quite comforting that with the top 3 missing, they still came through. And good to see Kang playing like he's capable of.

Goldie wanted to give playing time to the guys that usually doesn't get in but are very good players getting better everyday and very hard practice guys like Barki. and Parikh is another very talented player that hasn't been getting playing time.

Basavareddy cracks the top 100. First milestone achieved.

What a ride.
Great match against Virginia ranked #6. Without our #1 player Banerjee, Kang played #1 and was on his way to victory at #1 but match was stopped when Razeghi fell short at #3. But all in all, this match was easily would have been Cardinal win if we had Banerjee at #1.

Banerjee out of the lineup for the third match in a row. Hope he gets back on court soon. Good to see Kang playing the way he is. Also HVDS at 4 should be an automatic point on the board against most teams.

Looking at the schedule, the Card have an odd date with Georgetown midweek before playing SMU and BC next weekend.

When Banerjee comes back, only team that can matchup with the Card is the frogs. but i think coach Goldstein has figured out TCU lineup now and next time they meet, it should be 5-2 victory for the Card
