Stanford Men

Ronit Karki, Class of ‘26 recruit is into the semis of Wimby juniors. Let’s gooo!
at this rate, he may just turn pro

Karki came up short in the final. Still a fairy tale run to the final as a qualifier.

Leach and his Brit partner made the doubles final.

Banerjee swept singles and doubles at the Dallas 25k. He and Kang now have a singles and doubles title each this summer.

Looking good at the farm.

wonder if he can accept the prize money ?

who's playing in the Kalamazoo tournament this week ? Karki and who else ?

i was surprised Leach isn't playing
I believe that Leach is injured. Colette did not specify his injury.

nishesh with another disappointing loss to svajda
Edit: Zach Svadja

NB is 1-3 vs Svajda. On a positive note if there is one, NB lost to ZS in 3 sets, and Svajda did go on to win the tournament. ZS has also been playing better as of late having also recently won Newport.

Didn't see Leach's name among the seeds, so probably not playing. Grumet who won the 16s last year and is coming to the farm in fall '26 is playing. No idea if Krupkin is.
lol,, why is Kang playing in his Stanford tshirt and pants ?? doesn't he know this is Pro tournament ? lol

Not sure if he has a clothing deal. If not it would just be easier to sport college gear.

He had a very good week at the Edwardsville 25k winning both singles and doubles (with Razeghi). Hope he takes this form into the college season.

Trevor Svajda (TS) not too shabby either making the QFs as a qualifier in Chicago.

Basavareddy and Boyer registered their maiden M1000 wins at Cincy over Vukic and Holt in straight sets. They play Zverev and Lehecka next.

Fery lost in the final round of qualifying.
Boyer and Basavareddy got a nice deal from Cinci, playing Holt was probably the matchup wanted by Boyer . lol. Not that Holt is a easy player to beat. and not sure Vikic was doing but he didn't look like top 100 player last night. lol :-D

and what about Zheng,, he looks like top 100 player in the tour all of sudden.. not sure what he's been eating.. and is he even coming back to college at this point ?
Zheng has had a terrific summer kinda like Bsavareddy last year. Could win his first Challenger title tomorrow after making a final earlier this summer. Very consistent.

He told the commentator he plans on returning to Columbia this fall. So college tennis fans will get to see a "top 100" player turn out one last time.

Curious to see how he does at the US Open.

i think Zheng is making a mistake by coming back. He's on the right track by playing tour level tennis and if he comes back, that will only go downhill . if he stays on the tour, his level could improve exponentially, he should definitely turn pro at this point

Yea can’t figure this. Coming back to play opponents like Brown and Dartmouth after knocking on the doors of the ATP doesn’t make sense. But if there’s one thing to be said his results have kept up. Last summer he made a Challenger final in DR then won the NCAAs after having been runner up at the previous edition. Then carried Columbia to a QF in the team NCAAs. And now having the run he is. Still only 21 so time’s on his side. He’s not following Shelton or Quinn but instead doing what Colton Smith did by coming back for his final year at Arizona even though he was ready for the big leagues.

if it doesn't work out maybe he can join the stanford squad, he still has 4 years of eligibility left since he never went to college.. LOL
Watched that match. BT's ability to use slow, slice BH's and flat ball FH's to put his opponent in uncomfortable positions is really fun to watch. Then he throws in the heater first serve or smokes a groundstroke further disrupting his players rhythm.

Big crowd mostly pulling for PK the American, but Bernie has a following for sure and had plenty of fan support. He's a fun watch for sure.

Don’t see Banerjee in the preseason rankings. But he’s still on the roster so presumably taking the fall off?

Others missing include Legout (Texas), JPJ (TCU), Tarvet (San Diego).

Good to still see Jodar in the mix.

Boyer wins the 3rd set against Rublev. when he gets the 1st serve in, he wins 100 % of the points. is he now the dark horse to win it all at the US open ?

Away from the US Open buzz, Banerjee won his second 25k this summer this time in Argentina mowing down all his opponents in straights. Also won doubles with a former Aggie Noah Schachter.

Been a strong stretch for him and gets a chance to do more damage as it appears he’s not playing the college fall season.

Karki into the R16 with a winnable match against fellow American Johnson coming up. Would be another strong showing after his Wimbledon run in his last junior slam as he’s aging out this year.

Grad transfer Chang has been playing ITFs mostly in Asia and has a 1388 atp ranking. 5-4 this summer with a QF at a 25k in Bali as his best. Seems like pretty much the entire starting lineup for next season has played Pros over the break. Good to see. Didn’t use to be the case even a couple years ago.

Early results from Battle in the Bay: Godsick and Rivera lost in Rd 2 of singles but are still alive in doubles.

Godsick went down 3&1 to Giamichelle of UGA. Rivera faced Gorzny (Texas) and lost 5&1. They beat Chen and Giamichelle of UGA 8-3 in doubles.

Would have liked to see Kang and Razeghi playing as well.

Some others of note still in singles include top seed Miyoshi (Illinois) and Baris the 2 seed (MSU).

Basing has been making hay in Bali winning his third Futures in a row. Up inside 450 now. Time for him to test himself in the Challengers.

Odd to see Kang and Razeghi missing from the Tulsa field. Per the Stanford website, only Godsick, Chang and Rivera (doubles w/ Godsick) are making the trip.

Hope there are no injury issues. Did see that Razeghi hit with Federer last week before the Laver Cup, so he seems okay.

i think Kang is playing pro tournaments and those ita events are good easy for him now. and Razeghi is too busy playing with Federer, i think roger may coach him from what i have seen

Haha! But regarding Kang, he hasn't played a tournament since the Chicago Challenger which was a month and a half ago. Hope he's fit that's all.

Banerjee made his first Challenger semi as a qualifier in Columbus in only his fourth tournament at that level. But he then got bludgeoned by the powerful Martin Damm. Still pretty good run for him.

Card have had slim returns in Tulsa with Godsick losing in qualies and losing the first round of doubles partnering with Rivera. Only Chang has had some success winning his first round match in the main draw.

And he promptly loses to Zink. He looks to be an indoors specialist. Can’t play outdoors which is a big problem.

Check out Zheng v Jodar coming up. That’s a true future top 100 matchup.
