Stanford Men

NB loses 3&3 to the 16 yr old phenom Moise Kouame. I mean this guy strikes the ball so good off both wings. Crazy good.

Needs to develop a net presence but really liked what I saw.

4-2 loss to the Heels. Probably costs the Card a chance to host. Banerjee is an automatic L before he walks on court. Others waged a battle but couldn’t pull it out. Congrats to the Heels.

That was a UNC team down two starters who hadn’t got it going yet this year. I almost made a smart-aleck reply to Nostradamus this week about “you better hope you kill both these teams this weekend.”

Never expected an actual loss to unranked UNC.

Long day on court so when I check on the results...to say i was shocked is an understatement.

How?!? What happened? On paper I thought the card would have won this one easily.
Couldn’t locate the livestream so didn’t watch. But going by the scores, looks like Rivera ran Jones close on Ct 2 while Chang was battling it out on Ct 4. Banerjee’s having a nightmarish run in his senior year probably still unable to hit his backhand. Leach had a close loss to Mayew. Razeghi and Godsick won in straights at 5 & 6. The doubles was disappointing after their performance at Indoors. Tbh, if I were to be objective, Stanford is middle of the pack in the ACC. But they can also be a very good side if fully healthy but that’s a big question mark right now.

They had to win at the prison. Card over Dook 4-2.
that tasted good today

Gotta say Razeghi, Godsick and Leach are becoming locks at 3/4/5. But most impressive is Rivera who took down Rodenas easily on Ct 1. To think the Card won without Banerjee and Kang is incredible that too against a really solid Duke team. At least partial redemption for the loss to UNC.

UVA next weekend. Different level for sure but at least they get to play at home. More interested in how well they compete against a top 5 team.

Stanford is #2 as well

Chang played #2 today and was locked in a third set battle with Williams. He played #3 against UNC and was up a break in the third but dnf. Looks to be gaining some form which is good news.
with Banerjee healthy and Kang back in may, this is going to be too easy

Jagger Leach in the qualifying, look for him to qualify and get to the quarterfinals. could give Alcarez run for his money

4-1 over Virginia Tech. Wins for Chang, Razeghi and Godsick along with dubs. Spotted Kang watching the action seated courtside while couldn’t see Banerjee at all on the livestream. It’s come to the point where it’s a legit question if these two will regain full fitness this season.

Krupkin becoming a real weakness at 6. I thought he would be more competitive than he has been so far.
Yeah he showed some early promise racking up some wins there but has had a tough time since. Don’t have a problem with giving him matches though as it’s either an L at 6 if he plays or at 1 if Banerjee plays and he doesn’t.

UVA blanks the Card taking dubs 2-1 and then singles at 1, 2 and 4. The other matches were either in a third set or headed there. Good show overall imho. Just need to get better and healthier heading into the ACC tournament. They have the players to be competitive based on this performance.

Yeah. Doubles came down to court 2 and was very close. Just a few points in the breaker were the difference. Singles was competitive on most courts. If the card is healthy, this match could’ve gone their way imho, especially since it was at home.

Kang was in uniform but I didn’t see him hit a ball. Samir could only slice his backhand.

SMU on deck for tomorrow. They are coming off a sweep of UNC and Duke. They did one better than the Card who dropped the UNC match.

Svajda is playing some of his best tennis and winning without breaking a sweat. They have other guys too that can ball.

Apparently Svajda is turning pro after this season, so won't be back for his senior year.

Let's see how it goes.

Stanford with the much needed 4-2 win.

Godsick clinches along with wins from Razeghi and Leach plus dubs.

Svajda and Georgiev with the points for SMU.

Good to see Kang hitting.

To me, this ACC conference dual matches are much more boring, i miss that USC UCLA and Cal bears division matchups from the past. with ACC ,, its feast or famine. you have these weak teams and very strong teams..... with no real history and rivary

Don’t have your historical perspective but yes the west coast rivalries were special. Glad Stanford still gets to play Cal although iirc it used to be 2x per season when they were in the Pac12. Also good that they’ve kept the dates with the LA schools. Overall, the move to the ACC has been good but for the travel. To be able to play UVA and Wake has been a big bonus but even programs like Duke, NC State, UNC, FSU and Clemson have been good over the years. It’s about giving it some time for new rivalries to develop.

Keep current conference setup for football; let all other college sports go regional. The travel issue is huge for the "minor" sports. Football? Not so much.

Agree. With the whole P5-to-P4 realignment chaos, I always assumed non-revenue sports would shift regional like you said. Instead, leadership keeps doubling down on decisions that ignore travel realities and basic fiscal discipline.

What i want to know is how do they afford all these traveling costs ?? Airlines tickets, hotel bills, food ect . LOL

Actually it’s even worse for Stanford as they are taking less than their pro rata share of ACC revenue from broadcasting rights. And then they’ve been spending big time on facilities - the semi indoor facility last year and the soon to be opened state of the art outdoor facility. There’s deep pockets there.
