Yes Paige has been pretty clutch this year. One of the stronger parts of the Stanford team.
What's going on with Kumar though? He has lost 6 of his past 8 with 1 unfinished match. Hitting a really rough patch.

I just think Sameer is adapting to college tennis, going through the freshman blues. He started strong, but, yes, has suffered recent losses. Look for him to get it back, though, as his stroke production remains too good for him to fail.
I agree, Sameer is too good of a player, he will be back. I saw the match against Cal in February. He played great in doubs initially but gave it away in the breaker at the end which turned out to be an important point. Lost the singles that day and seems to be struggling ever since. Focus on the future and things will work out.

So in Reality, Cardinal is about #10-20 team in rankings, though current ranking doesn't show that..... Can Stanford get back up to those ranking of 10-20 or so..... This will be Critical in seeding for NCAA championships so that they don't have to play one of the Top teams too early. and they may even get to host the 1st and 2nd rounds at Taube stadium which will favor them.
Not sure how much the PAc-12 tournament results will figure into the final rankings...... Will take care of Sanfrancico tomorrow but Cal will be tricky on Saturday in Berkeley. If they can pull that one off too then I say they can get up to 10-20 in rankings....

10-20 is more accurate. guys like Kumar, Genendar, Wilinscky and Romanowicz are all top players in the country, like top 50 in the country. and we are not even including Hsu in there, who is top 30 player in NCAA. he is injured but if come back, Cardinal will be top 10 talent team. and they will be threat to win the NCAA tournament.

The days of Klahn, Warburg, and Hippensteel are long past. I do however think Goldstein will put together a quality squad...just not in the elite class of teams

Pretty Darn Good draw for NCAA tournament. Have to travel to Chicago but all 3 teams in 1st and 2nd round are beatable. 1st round Irish should be a win then Northwestern wildcats are having a good season but Not dominant at all. Stanford matches up great at all spots. Look for Cardinal to come out there with the WIN. then will probably face UCLA bruins which will be a tough match but anything can happen in Tulsa as they say................

Agree with you. but still though, they have to play UCLA in the quarters and that isn't that great....

Northwestern wildcats are having "good season"? That is the best wildcats season in their history. I hope Stanford gets past Notre Dame so I could see how they play against northwestern.

The 1997 team would like to have a word with you......but yes, one of the best of all time. I am too young to fight for the older teams, which surely were great, too. But none Stanford great......this is definitely going to be a fun one if it happens.

One lucky win doesn't make a dominant team. I know this Wildcat team and they don't have any dominant player on any line. Stanford matches up great at All spots, except maybe at #6 and maybe #5. Cardinal #1 Fawcett is from Chicago area and he will have lots of fan support. Cardinal could win in Routine fashion.

4-3. Just not sure which way. Any team with 8 blue chips, or whatever Stanford has, is to be respected but definitely not feared by Northwestern. Also, in my qualitative experience, Stanford will lose 6 and 5 in your prediction world, but win the dual. That happens so many times, where the match goes like 2/3 on its head, and the best, rational predictions are entirely wrong. When I think back to this Northwestern team the past 2 years, they've won a ton of big 4-3 matches, and they are battle tested, whereas Stanford has lost almost all of those this year. Doesn't mean that doesn't entirely flip next week, but that's just the facts leading into this match. It's going to be a lot of fun to watch.
Northwestern has only been "routined" by 1 team all year, so I would be shocked if they lose in a straightforward fashion on Sheridan Road. This is a solid 13 to 20 ranked team. I would not call their win over Illinois lucky by any means, but I would admit that Illinois is probably the better team. Stanford or Northwestern just has to be the better team, though, on one day. Nothing more, nothing less.

looking at the weather, it will rain that weekend so it will be indoor match. Stanford plays great indoors. Wilczynski, David never loses indoors.

hey guys, I think I just maybe a Psychic after all..... I remember in January of this year that I was dreaming ,,,,,,, and I was dreaming about Stanford Cardinal playing in NCAA 1st and 2nd round. and I dreamed that they were playing in Northwestern in Evanston , IL. This is little bit scary but not sure what to make of this................

Huge match this weekend for the Cardinal. I am a bit torn between wanting them to play indoors so that I can watch them on webcam or have them play outdoors so they will have the advantage. I think on sunday, if they play indoors, NU wildcats will have a slight advantage. but if they play outdoors, Stanford will have the advantage. what do you guys think ?

Right they should. but they can't. they just don't have the webcam setup on their outdoor courts. Indoor courts have them, only because they have playsight set up.

I'm not sure where you get your data from. the ITA ranking list shows Fawcett at #15, and Wilczynski at #87, and that's all for Stanford players in top 125. Northwestern has Zieba at #20, Shropshire at #40, and Kirchheimer #57. Stanford has two doubles ranked in top 90 while Northwestern has none - but actually current Northwestern doubles teams have very comparable results, perhaps it was against lesser competition which is why they are not ranked.
Anyway, let's hope both teams get through the first matches on Saturday first. If they indeed meet on Sunday I will be a bit torn who to cheer for - I have emotional interest in both teams...
Is anyone planning on going to Evanston to see the matches?
So the official NW site says the matches on Saturday and Sunday are outside. But I've heard from various sources that it is still very much up in the air. The weather in Chicago is so-so these days, raining on and off, and not that warm. I could certainly see them moving matches indoors on Sunday, you know, 'to make sure the matches are not interrupted by rain' - but the actual reason may not be entirely weather related.

No guarantee Cardinals beat Notre Dame. The Irish finished the year strong winning 5 of their last 6 and losing to Wake Forest 4-3 in ACC quarter-finals. ND also beat UNC, who was #1 at the time in South Bend as well in their second to last match of the regular season. Northwestern will move on to the Rd of 16 regardless of who they face in Rd 2

Sorry Edward, card have minimal talent at this point and the Bryan's and mc are long gone. Senior class this year goes down as one of the worst in school history....Better hope first round is outdoors otherwise Irish win easy.

Yes the weather looks very cold. High temp for Sat is 51 degrees and 18 mph winds. and Sunday isn't any better. most likely it will move indoors..... Stanford needs to get some serious indoor practice times to get used to it, even though they played very well indoors in san Francisco.

Agree, I just can't see the Cards losing to Irish. way too much talent and too much power. and they will have fan support as well with Fawcett and Kumar being from this area..

They are still ranked higher than ND, there must be a reason for it. But by all means I'm not entirely sure cards will be playing on Sunday

it isn't just about dry courts. HIGH temperature for Saturday is 49 degrees. IF the temp is below 50 degrees, NCAA officials will move the match indoors, and that is the rule they play by. and I was told NCAA officials will decide where they play.
