Stanford Men

As of this moment, given the rule, any match in Evanston that starts at 12 noon will be outside. 11 am and it will be indoors by 1-fahrenheit degree. That could change obviously. But as of now, a 12 noon start by the letter of the law, is outdoors. The rule is 2 out of 4 hours must hit the outdoor playing threshold according to weather.com, and it does as of this moment (subject to change obviously).

What time do they start today?

Well, cards are 1 up after doubles. Went to the site on all three courts

They are about to go up 3:0 but I'm still not sure they will get that one more point

Now, it should not take more than 90 minutes for NW to polish off Val's team

Hmm, that valp team is not giving up. They lost first set on 5 out of 6 courts, but they are holding on in the seconds

Not so routine but Cards were winning this one all the way. Wilczinski had a off day, he will play much better tomorrow. Doubles point could decide this one.

well, I was being sarcastic. There was nothing routine about that win. All of us on the Stanford cheering bench were thinking where the forth point will come from. Kumar and Fawcett won even before the other singles finished first sets. So Stanford was up 3:0 - but the remaining 4 courts did not look too great. Paige squeezed first set in a breaker and came back from a break down in a second. I don't think Stanford would have won any other match.

That being said Northwestern did not look too convincing against Valpo. It was way closer than 4:1 would indicate. Should be a fun match between Stanford and Northwestern tomorrow.

Wilczinski would have come back. he is a very tough player that had a off day today. He is top 20 player in NCAA.

Still not sure if match will be outdoor. Should be close. Tony, Trey, Maciek, Nolan: collective soul of Card tennis can get it done.

Stanford lost doubles point. They look very promising on three singles matches. Just that forth point.......

Kumar, fawcett, and Paige are winning comfortably, wilczynski is losing really badly, the other two are even

Cards are up 2:1 now. Incredibly fawcett lost first set after being up like 5:1

Congrats on the win Stanford! Sucks you have to play UCLA once again though. It would be interesting to see them play somebody else like UNC, Virginia or Ohio State rather than another UCLA match.

Omg, that was quite a win. So many tense moments on court 1

Well,, I know what I am talking about,,,when you are a genius like me, you can call matches like these......Go Stanford.......... There was NO way Fawcett was going to lose this one. Tom is much much better more talented player than Zieba. Only way Tom was going to lose that one was if he lost it mentally. and I knew that wasn't going t happen with Goldstein advising him.......

Right, but Cards have huge momentum on their side.......I have a feeling they will turn the table on the Bruins in Tulsa...............Arrogance of UCLA will be their undoing...............

Woo hoo! Cardiac Card gets it down in Evanston, avenges football loss to Northwestern last September. Trust me, have a chance against the Bruins. (And I don't mean Brown.)

yes. Nolan Paige came up huge in both 1st and 2nd round. This guy has some major big time talent. i wonder why he didn't do better during the season. likely due to the toughest competition in the nation with PAc-12.

I know this is Stanford Men thread - but the girls showed yesterday how it's done. Great win over Florida! Hopefully men's team can do the same and beat higher ranked UCLA today.

I hope so too. but talentwise I believe UCLA has the slight edge and more experience as well. Hope Cards can overcome the previous 3 defeats this season. Girls were slightly different story, they matched up with Florida really well, very very close talent levels and better coaching came thru in the end.

#3 doubles up a break already...............Kumar is on Fire.....................
You are not kidding. Kumar is going to be a force in coming years. He plays hard, smart tennis, with lots of emotions - perfect for 'team' college tennis. He was crucial last week against Northwestern.

Nolan is a funny dude. He seems like he does not give a .... about stuff. His demeanor last Saturday when he was about to clinch a match against Notre Dame was priceless.

Watching this and does that Fawcett dude know he is suppose to hit the ball inside the lines as well as hit it over the net?
He is probably playing against the best player in NCAA right now... Mackie is already pretty much professional level. he shouldn't be playing in college.

Kumar's come back and taken the 2nd set from Staggs. Only fitting,,,,Kumar is 10 X more talented player than Staggs will ever be. Kumar has legit pro potential.

Though Staggs is still a great player. Kumar was the #3 recruit in his class. Looks like he has found his game which he has been missing all season.
