it looks like we were the only two board members watching and posting today... It was well worth the long, nerve-racking, last two matches.
Yes I watched Basavareddy right through. Really awesome display of tennis from him and Smith esp given the conditions. Broke Smith twice in the third set. He is as good a closer as Fery when the match is on the line.

Also have to say Stanford is looking very good at dubs too even with their top pairing of Godsick/Basing out of commission. Basavareddy and Banerjee put on a clinic today against the #24 ranked AZ line 1.

This group should really get a top 16 seed unless they fall apart in the next month.
Agree. They have a good shot of winning the Pac12 regular season with matches against Utah, UCLA and USC remaining on the schedule. I'd expect them to take those based on the way they've been playing. Just a bit concerned about Basing and Banerjee as they've been a relative weak link. Rest of the lineup looks good. Could even make a case for Kang at 2 or 3 based on his recent showing.

Is Nico Godsick injured? Really strong wins on the road against the Arizona teams. Stanford and Oklahoma will be the 2 huge movers up in the ITA rankings this week.

Card WIN!!! Fittingly came down to Ct 1 and Basavareddy locked it down!! Great victory against a highly talented AZ squad. Amazing!

Card better be ranked in top 5 come Monday. or i am going to fire all the NCAA and ITA staff that rates college D1 teams

No idea regarding Godsick's status. But hard to imagine he would be held out of doubles considering he's the best Stanford has. And he & Basing were on a roll getting up to 21 nationally. Now Basavareddy and Banerjee could be ranked as well after their takedown of Smith/Friend.

They will get a top 16 seed if they finish in the top 16 in the computer rankings. Otherwise, they won't. Seeds are not settled by message board fans talking about how the team looked.
You are stating the obvious. Regardless, a very good weekend for the Card. There's no debating that. Yes they have to keep playing well but that goes for any other team as well if they have to maintain or improve their rankings. And even if the Card are not a top 16 seed, they have a shot against any team other than the top 5 even on the road. Last year they ran Kentucky very close in the round of 16. They showed they can play in other teams' fortresses. Arizona had not lost at home this season.

Pac-12 player of the week again ....... call him Prince of the Pac -12.. no no,, just call him Prince of the D1 tennis in history of D1 tennis. Go CARD. now Card ranked top 5 this week,,,, albeit they have been robbed of true justifiable ranking

If they can beat Arizona again in the Pac 12 tourney they should certainly be top 16. Without that it will probably be close if they can get another win over UCLA or AZ State.

Their losses have been to heavyweights TCU and Texas, and a much improved San Diego. The one unfortunate and totally avoidable loss was to Michigan w/o Basavareddy in the lineup. That was a bad loss because Michigan is sitting in the 30s and it also denied the Card a shot at good teams at Indoors. So it doesn’t look like they can crack the top 16. But if they play to their potential they could pose a real threat to any regional 1 seed other than UVA, Texas, TCU and Ohio State.

Strength of schedule matters so much and that’s where Stanford’s lacking. Also they have only played 16 matches whereas many others have played way more frequently packing their seasons with doubleheaders.

Quick look at the dual singles records so far this season (by win %):

Kolasinski: 4-0
Rajesh: 9-1
Basavareddy: 7-1
Kang: 8-2
Godsick: 3-1
Basing: 9-5
Rivera: 7-4
Banerjee: 6-4

Banerjee at line 2, Rivera at 5/6 and Basing at 3 have been struggling relatively speaking. In a way it's a positive for the Card that they have the record they have with Basing and Banerjee not pulling their weight. Speaks to the stronger makeup of this lineup compared to last year. I am not ready to hand Stanford the regular season conference title with matches against Utah, UCLA, USC and Cal remaining. UCLA and Cal have been playing well of late. But there's a good chance the Card come out on top.

i would play Kolanski at #1 when the playoffs begin

Tough that they dropped a spot despite sweeping Utah lol
The Memphis and USC wins lose a little steam with both of them dropping in the rankings. But the Cal and Washington wins will gain with those two jumping up.

Also it depends what other teams around you do. Stanford dropped a spot mainly because NC State went from 20 to 16 thanks to their big road win over FSU.

Really surprised by today’s loss to UCLA. They’ve been clicking recently with a win over Arizona and convincing wins at home. Plus Fed seemed to have energized them.

Anyone see the match and have any insights?

Can’t figure out this team. They’re healthy. Having a winning streak. Rebuilding year for UCLA. Not sure what’s missing.

They weren’t injured this time?
is that a real question?? Of course they were injured. And preoccupied with coursework. And exams. And internships. And with scouting ATP players they will be soon playing in ATP main draws.

honestly I have no words. After being up a set in 5 (five!) singles matches. After being up 3:1, couldn't get a point. gee..... :(

I watched Basavareddy play Nanda (livestream). Man was he on another level or what. Nanda actually played well but he was stuffed. If Basavareddy plays like this he could make a deep run at individuals.

Stanford lost in spite of good wins from Basing and Rajesh. However, the others couldn’t get it done. There are holes in the lineup that are getting exposed particularly at 2 and 6. Very little production out of those two spots.

Golden opportunity lost to win the Pac12 regular season in its last year.

Feel some pity for the Trojans, 21 time national champs. It’s been eons since the Card have swept the Trojans even once, let alone twice this season. Reality is they could play a dozen times and the results would be the same. There’s a gulf in talent level right now. Strangely, at the start of the season would have picked them to be better than UCLA but that’s definitely not how it turned out.

Do you think that USC will make a coaching change? Does Masi have any strong recruits coming in?
