it will be Ma vs Yeppafinova in the semifinalsJust read that Ma is the lucky one to play Shaider in the first round. Ugh. Shaider seeded 7th!

This is just classic Feddie, uttering predictions rips the fabric of our universe and leads to anything and everything else but what he claimsShaider and Ma both withdrew from the tournament
why did Shrader drop out ? she had a easy ticket into the US open main draw.. she is top 100 WTA player already, she probably would have breezed through the draw and ticket to US openShaider and Ma both withdrew from the tournament

Did anyone watch the Blake/Ma match? I've never seen Ma play, but she was either gassed or just didn't want to be out there, judging by her body language. Either way, huge win for Angelica over the No. 3 seed.
Good to see Stanford up to #5 ,a good season for sure. But A&M are ranked where they are because they have been strong throughout the year.Final team rankings are out and Stanford finishes at No. 5. However, I'd be quite upset if I were NC State. You def Stanford in the semis, who a day earlier def Texas A&M. Yet Texas A&M ends up ranked above both NC State and Stanford.
Blake will go all the way and win. i don't see anyone left that can threaten herAm I crazy? Can Blake go ALL THE WAY? What a story book ending for her if she does. Let's be real, nobody wants to be known as perhaps the only player not to win a National Team Championship. But what if she wins the Individual Championship instead? That would be amazing.
Of course that would be amazing. But in any case the word is she will be back next year and so will have another shot at that National Team Championship. Which of course would compensate for the Team missing a year through COVIDAm I crazy? Can Blake go ALL THE WAY? What a story book ending for her if she does. Wow....Blake really had an amazing season. And yes, I too have heard that she will return for a 5th year. Should be a strong squad next year if Yu and Hui are the real deal.Didn’t quite go for Blake today ( kiss of death from Nostradamus! ) . Went down 7-6 6-4 to Sleeth in a couple of tight sets. She’ll be disappointed. But she can be proud of her season : 36-7 for the year , 20-2 in duals, undefeated at position 3. Chosen for PAC 12 team of the year and NCAA team of the tournament. Achieved All American status for the first time.
Her wins in this tournament over Lea Ma, Komar and Broadus were outstanding and could see her end the season as Stanford’s highest ranked player. And if she comes back next year time for another shot at that Team Championship!
But don’t you think that potential NCAA champions need depth ? UNC have been able to leave out Forbes/ Tran/ Yalagarda at various times this year. My understanding is that Yu is the stronger and so it’s likely that Xu and Hui will compete for the number 6 spot. Plus it enables some rotation of the line up so all the players get rested from time to time. And provide doubles options.Choy leaves but they have two top blue chips in Yu and Hui (1&2) coming in. Who sits if Blake comes back? It would be unfair to have that be Xu who played outstanding down the stretch. Well, it’s a good problem for the coaches to have!
Agree. To compete with UNC they have to build roster depth. Yu did well against Riske at the US Open last year and has been doing well in the Futures and achieved a WTA rank inside 650. Hui has been doing well on the junior circuit and also rose to 938 WTA. So both have pro experience which is more than could be said of Xu and Ma when they came in. Not only will the roster be deep but it’ll also be battle testedBut don’t you think that potential NCAA champions need depth ? I'm going to disagree Blake was the only one playing at a high level. I think almost the entire team played well late in the season - most notably the back courts. Choy def kicked into another gear as the season progressed. Xu and Blok def had some rough patches during the season, but they both really came on strong toward the end. I'm really looking forward to seeing Blok's progression next season.Based on a few matches I watched this spring, only Blake was playing at a high level recently. Is she really eligible to return next year? If so, she may be considered for line one over Yepifanova, who also had a solid season and contributed more dual match wins than anyone, but her level dropped a bit towards the end. Regretfully, Ma and Blokhina did not play great the entire year. I suspect that most of these ladies prioritize elite education over college tennis. Hopefully the incoming pair will perform, at least one of them must substitute Choy who delivered tons of important wins. Yes, roster depth is a great problem to have!
Very good year overall. Such a complete domination in PAC-12 and reaching semis in Teams is something to be proud of. Go Card!
And watching college tennis at 7am PST on weekdays is tough - just saying!
Yes Blokhina is going to be the key. She has a high ceiling and didn’t play to her potential. For someone who beat Madison Brengle at a 60k and Brantmeier of UNC at the Easter Bowl to win it, she can and will do much better. And if she does then look out!I'm going to disagree Blake was the only one playing at a high level. I think almost the entire team played well late in the season - most notably the back courts. Lol! Your enthusiasm knows no bounds!!this girl is a real deal, she will be #1 player in college next year

This Tian is something else. Smallish in physical stature but has impeccable tennis sense and so good at exploiting angles. Yepifanova couldn’t solve the puzzle yesterday. Good to see Tian and Maddy Sieg of USC keep the Pac12 flag flying at Lake Nona.Yepifanova goes down 7-5 6-3 to Tian of UCLA .
Blake continues her run with a huge win over #3 seed Lea Ma from Georgia 6-4 7-6 ( 7-0 ) to make quarter finals.
In fact Ma, Blokhina and Xu all ended up with 15-6 win / loss records in duals. So it’s true to say that while Blok and Xu had some rough patches , Ma did also. Not winning any of her NCAA matches and no win after April 14. Though in fairness most of those matches were unfinished. Hopefully she can reproduce her year 1 form next year. I do think there’s a case for starting Blake at #2 next year.I'm going to disagree Blake was the only one playing at a high level. She cannot be one of the few Stanford women's tennis player to go 4 years without taking home the team trophy. She must come back for a 5th year.Wow....Blake really had an amazing season. Technically, she has already gone 4 years without a team trophy. But I know what you mean -- leaving Stanford without a team trophy. She cannot be one of the few Stanford women's tennis player to go 4 years without taking home the team trophy. She must come back for a 5th year.
Nobody wanted it as bad as her, so she really deserves it!!!
Yes, not forgetting in reality it has been 3 years since there was no NCAA tournament in 2020.Technically, she has already gone 4 years without a team trophy. But I know what you mean -- leaving Stanford without a team trophy.
