Star Wars Disney about to be removed from Canon :-)

Looks like finally Disney has woken up and understood what has gone wrong with the Disney Trilogy, they are now looking to retcon them out of canon and into an alternative timeline. There was such a backlash on how the movies were, and dropping sales in almost every aspect, the movie box office sales, the merchandise sales and even the rides that Disney had invested so much in. Under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, the movies took a massive detour from what George Lucas had envisioned...now using something that has been revealed in the latest Star Wars lore, the veil of the Force is being used to explain that the Disney sequel trilogy is in fact NOT canon and happened in an alternative time line, which is not part of the real canon time that that ended with Return of The Jedi...

This is some of the best news I have personally heard about Stars Wars in years, and hopefully if Disney look to re-create episodes 7, 8 and 9, they will do it under the guidance of Lucas. :D (y)

Just a rumor right? Won't believe it until I actually see it officially announced, as much as I wish it were true.

Problem is Disney missed their shot with the sequels, Carrie Fisher has sadly passed away, Harrison Ford isn't coming back for another full movie and while Mark Hamill might be teased back in, without the others it would be missing something. I find it absolutely crazy that there isn't a single scene in the sequel trilogy with Luke, Leia and Han. Honestly feel like Star Wars has jumped the shark movie wise and needs to focus on standalone shows like the Mandalorian.

Star Wars is dead. The sequels didn’t put the final nail in the coffin, they built each single nail and then pushed the coffin six feet under. Disney completely destroyed mainline Star Wars movies.

That will never happen and is not even realistic.

As much as I dislike the new ones, and to be honest, kind of killed my passion for Star Wars, I don't even understand how they could possibly do that?

We just have to live with it. Some truly hate the prequels... which was done by Lucas, so they will never please anyone.

At this point they just need to pay Dave Filoni to make an animated series that takes place after RoJ that has a (CGI) Luke, Leia, Han, etc. And it could have cool live action tie-ins with The Mandalorian.

Nobody wanted a brand new cast of characters, everyone wanted to know what the MAIN characters did after RoJ.

0.01% chance of this actually happening. And it shouldn't either. I didn't like the sequels but never felt they should be erased and re-done. Just move on and make new stuff. Give the Skywalker era a long break.

We already know they're investing in the Old Republic now and there's still endless uncharted territory to cover.

I disagree. I was fully on board with having a new cast. The old characters are...old. The now 60-70 year olds should not be the front and center action heroes like they were back in the 80s.

Having them in the films but as supporting roles was perfect to me. The problem was with the overall story, not the OG's usage.

Are you serious? That would be incredible news! I really like the Timothy Zahn books and was hoping for a most optomostic, happy future for the original characters. I wanted to see Luke training Han and Leia's kids at a Jedi Academy as well as Han and Leia together. Seeing Luke so grumpy really hurt.

It's been explained how they are going to do that.

It's called the Veil of the Force. Basically Palpatine knows that are a powerful set of mirrors that are powered by the Veil of the Force, that open doorways to alternate realities, or alternate universes. It has been proposed that Palpatine had a set of mirrors built in his throne room in the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi, and when Vader throws him down the shaft, he uses the dark side to jump through the mirror into a different timeline.

In the canon timeline Palpatine is no more, he doesn't survive, as Lucas had originally intended. He pass into the alternate timeline and arrives on Exogul, and then starts the key chain of events that then lead to the First Order, Snoke and everything that happens. It will be put away in the same way and written off as a Star Wars legends alternate time of IF Palpatine survived.

Kathleen Kennedy has stepped down from Lucas film and is starting her own company, because she feels that is a big slap in the face of her legacy at Star Wars, but Disney who paid over 4 billion for Franchise, are not going to see it sink into oblivion, the Disney trilogy damaged Star Wars badly...they even canned Rian Johnson's episode 10, 11, and 12. There has been civil war taking place, and many wanted Kathleen out who ruined the movies with identity politics.

So lets see how it goes, but Disney want to make a lot of money from Star Wars, since they invested so much in it....the three movies alone only really gave them the money back that they paid to get the rights, and when Solo lost money and became the first Star Wars movie to officially be declared a box office flop, Disney have been forced to change their thinking.

So this is legit? Have not heard any reliable sources. Not many people will recognize this in my estimate, or even know.

I am all for it though, as long as Rogue one stays cannon, which it should considering the timeline.

This is coming from sources inside Lucas Film, who also leaked out the entire script for TROS. Kathleen will be gone, this has been made official. She had nothing to do with The Mandalorian show, and it got a lot better response from the fans, she was desperate for that show not to happen, but what it did show Disney was that there are fans out there who still believe in the original product and they want it back. Disney is all about the money, so they are going for it.

No news on Rogue One being moved out, they are only talking about episodes 7, 8 and 9, since Palpatine uses the Veil of the Force to make them an alternate timeline, everything up until then is still been explained as canon.

Whatever. I'm more pissed at Disney for making plain bad movies and those are not going away. They butchered old characters because they had zero original ideas or competent filmmakers. Death Star sized plotholes are the least of these films' problems. Actually, I'm most pissed at myself for watching one of those in the theater when I should've pirated them all.

Good news for the crazies in the church of Jedi and stuff.

This could turn into The Flash TV show. Retcon until they get it right. Whats the title for the next movie going to be? Episode VII: The real one, we promise this time

They were all over the place and never had an idea of what they wanted to do. Say what you will about the prequels (i love them), but 7, 8, and 9 were dreadful and had no direction. The 9th one was by far the worst though.

Good news. I always liked the idea of spin offs better anyways. Does not mess with too many main characters. I am not a huge mando fan, but I like the idea of Fett in the next season, if they dont screw that up too.

The best movie since Disney acquired it was Rogue One, so if they can keep to movies that are side stories that were behind the scenes of the original timeline, that would be nice.

I have a great idea...hear me out, what if Star Wars actually exists in a multi universes controlled by various forces, let’s say we call it the “ Multi-Forces” and long before the creation of this universe, there existed 5 Infinity Mirrors. One of these mirrors is the “Time Mirror” that allows you to travel back in time...

I am a genius!! The story practically writes it self! Billion box office here I come, baby!

Old news now! Disney did not like the pre-sequels since they where poorly written and directed. That is the way it goes when you shut down George Lucas and not invite him to the pre-screening of each movie.

Didn't see the last one on the big screen. After The Last Jedi, I wasn't going to see the next one in the cinema. Just no chance after what they did to Luke.

Agreed. No KOTOR 3 is the biggest travesty. Also, KOTOR 1 would make an awesome movie.

Knights of the old republic can be its own series of movies, but knowing Disney, they would not go that route. Well, maybe with new leadership we might see some changes.

And throw away his ideas...he gave them the outline to episode 7,8 and 9 and they just threw it all away. Not to mention, all those incredible novels, including my favorites - The Thrawn Trilogy.

The problem is (and there is a great documentary on it), Lucas made a lot of original trilogy fans mad about the sequels. Not me, I love it considering it was part of his original story and flowed perfectly.

This led to people essentially thinking Star Wars was not his but the fans. Disney rode with that because of money. First mistake.

All that being said, saying 7, 8, and 9 being no longer cannon will be ignored by those who liked it and just create more controversy to be discussed.

Game of Throne Season 8 had similar effect to the series. HBO should recon that, too. : )

If there are seven gods or even the old gods or even a Lord of light, they will do it.

They had a chance to make a series remembered by generations. But they absolutely disappointed with s6-s8.

To be honest, they could have gone with any of the reddit GOT fan theories and it would have ended on a high note...but they miraculously managed to fvcked it up so bad that I no longer have any interest to the entire TV franchise now. Hope George can come through with the books, though.

I think the series has become a burden for George, I really don't think he wants to finish it. He wants to explore other things and other projects. He keeps taking and accepting different work totally unrelated to ASOIAF.

Same goes for Game of thrones creators and actors. I think creatively they lost interest when the show became way way too popular for it's own good. I don't think any of the actors or creators wanted the magnitude of attention , whether positive or negative , the show gave them.

I think both the people related with the show and Martin fell out of love with the series a long time ago.

I don't know if it's just me but I think the act of retconning or even changing history is quite a cowardly one. If you are behind the franchise and approved the sequels you gotta live with them good or bad. If you wanna improve the series' reputation just come up with better sequels.

Dune is what you get when you're old enough to have moved beyond the realm of Star Wars. It's Game Of Thrones in space - the characters are more realistic, grounded and imperfect, it's definitely got the feel of Star Wars as it's a morality play, and it's got a lot of political intrigues and royal factions, power struggles, and conflicts. Also, it's older than GOT and Star Wars. In fact in some ways, without Dune, we never would've had Star Wars or GOT. Respect to Frank Herbert, the creator of Dune! Rest in peace!

I don't know too much about it, but Star Wars fanatics tell me that George Lucas is no longer fit to guide the franchise either. Who should take the reigns?

It is unlikely for that to happen given 4 out of 5 movies made billion dollars each. Even the flopped movie seems to be aging well with fans wanting Solo sequel or series.

They were looking for 2 plus billion dollars for each, with the last one reaching End Game figures. A billion may look good for other movies, but not what Disney were expecting for Star Wars...there has been nothing but a steady decline in ticket sales, so I wouldn't say that it is unlikely.

The last three movies left a serious bad taste in everyone's mouth, and whether movies age well or not is one thing, if they fail to be box office success, which is what Disney are looking for, it is not a good thing. They have rumored to have stated internally that they have only made at best half the money from the purchase of Star Wars...and the trend is going down, not up.

Doesn't really matter overall, as it is very easy to say that whatever Lucas approves IS canon since it is his brain child, and the sequel trilogy has nothing to do with the original vision. Those fans can keep their movies, but if Disney can do away with all those books, comics etc for over 40 years, and push away legions of fans who saw many of that as canon, they can do it again. Alternate timelines can exist.

Jon Favreau - A good friend of George Lucas, who also created the Mandalorian....plus, he was also the one who created the original Iron Man and brought Robert Downey Jr into the role even when the studios didn't want him. Jon stepped in because he was very upset as a fan of what product was being pushed out there, and since Disney owns Marvel Studios also, it was a lot easier to move Jon across first as a consultant and then someone who can help revive the franchise.

Kathleen Kennedy is the real problem and Bob Igor at Disney knows this, hence why her contract isn't getting renewed. Jon wants to bring back the original vision intended for Star Wars, more in line with the original canon and with more elements from the Star Wars legends stories.

Too late when you have damaged the story and damaged the characters. They tried to fix the problems of the last Jedi in the Rise of Skywalker but only made a whole new series of mistakes. You cannot put patches onto it now...the Skywalker Saga essentially became the Palpatine Saga, and that is what fans didn't like, better sequels are not possible if you have damaged the core fundamental part of the story....Anakin's rise fall and redemption, and Luke's journey to save his father and the galaxy.

Dunno whether they were expecting End Game numbers for last movie. But Star Wars certainly does not have market outside of NA, Japan and few other developed countries. TFA made 2B because of OT characters returning, a SW movie after a decade and Asian markets checking the movie out of curiosity. But it did not click with them. Without China, Star Wars can't expect to post 2B every movie. They probably realized this and did not spend to market TROS. If anything, they were expecting TLJ number for TROS but it under performed.

They will probably move away from the sequels quietly and focus on creating new movies/series like Mando. But I just don't see them come out and admit it openly that they were wrong.

They were. It was meant to be the conclusion to the Skywalker Saga. Episode 9 was meant to be their End Game, 40 plus years in the making. It was a real shock to them that they fell over 1.5 billion short of their intended target.

Yes, it is true that China didn't like the product that Disney put out, but if they throw a bad product out there and that is their first real experience with it, it leaves a lot to be desired. Think about it....The Force Awakens did over 2 billion at the box office...that means there is enough interest there for not just groups of people watching the movie, but also for repeated viewings. If each of the movies continued to hit 2 billion, then there is no doubt that aiming for End Game figures would not be out of realm of possibility for Ep 9.

But bad story, identity politics damaged the franchise and split the fans. Rise of skywalker did HALF that amount, we know 2 billion is attainable because the first one managed it, and it was mainly because fans wanted to see Luke, Han and Leia back on the screen, but as they found out what the sequel trilogy was really about, they were driven away.

They will probably move away from the sequels quietly and focus on creating new movies/series like Mando. But I just don't see them come out and admit it openly that they were wrong.

Maybe, but I doubt it. And they don't need to admit anything, they have their explanation already in place, Palpatine created an alternate timeline, those movies do exist, but in their own alternate timeline. Disney know if they want the fans to come back and buy merchandise and they want this thing to last, then they need to seriously sit down and do the right things. It is about money to Disney, and losing several billion isn't going to sit well with them.

Yep, but I have noticed there are two fans (talking about the serious ones), the first one is that anything star wars is cannon. The second is that only the movies are cannon.

But that has all changed and got murky once Disney acquired it and clone Wars came along.

Mate.

They snuffed Charlie Sheen, and replaced him with Ashton Kutcher in that stupid show. And nothing skipped a beat.
They can pretty much do anything. If they did the sensible thing and made the disney abominations non canon, it'd go down without a single hiccup, and would be forgotten and accepted within a week.

How. How. How was kennedy not sacked. How has she not been sacked still. I've never seen anyone fcuk up such a sure thing, such an ironclad cashcow. Like a woke Milton the Monster "6 drops of the essence of arrogance, 5 drops of imbecile sauce"

I don't know. I wish it was that easy. But I see it like retro actively taking titles from people and teams. It will always be there.

There is a third group...Only what George Lucas approves is Canon. Since it comes from his head to begin with and anything he doesn't specifically endorse or approve can be seen as glorified fan fiction.

Anyways, I for one will be very happy with the sequel trilogy being moved into their alternate time line.

I mean how many times have we seen the Terminator franchise have alternative time lines made. None of them were great, but it shows it can be done.

Well, hopefully she is gone for good soon. She totally and royally screwed up Star Wars, incredible how she managed to do that. I have to say, good riddance to her.
