Stat of the Day: Rafael Nadal has now won more than a third of the Grand Slams he’s ever played
His latest, in Paris, was his 22nd title in 64 career majors played.

Rafael Nadal rewrote history in a lot of ways today—not only did he capture the 14th Roland Garros title of his career, extending his record for most career titles on the terre battue for anyone in history, male or female, but it was also the 22nd Grand Slam title of his career, putting him two ahead of his two closest rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, for the men’s all-time record in that stat.

And another thing: This was Nadal’s 22nd title in 64 Grand Slams played, meaning he’s now won more than a third of the Grand Slams he’s ever played.

This isn’t the first point of his career where Nadal has won more than a third of the Grand Slams he’s played—he had this ratio for most of the time between the end of 2010 and 2015. But this is the first time he's had this status since after Roland Garros in 2015, when he had won 14 of the 41 majors he’d played at the time.
