State of the top 10 - fall 2024

G.O.A.T.
1. Jannik Sinner - number 1 with a bullet. Two Slams in 2024. Has won his last match against every player in the top 10, except for 1 (guess who?).
2. Alexander Zverev - number 2 due to consistency, not glory. Reached his first major final since 2022. In fairness, is fully in the mix again after recovering from the 2022 injury.
3. Carlos Alcaraz - two Slams, but not as consistent as Sinner. Is he the true wildcard in any draw?
4. Novak Djokovic - picked up his long-sought after Olympic gold. He gets what he wants. But is the man who has everything satiated?
5. Daniil Medvedev - pushed aside by the new kids on the block. Where does he go from here?
6. Andrey Rublev - always constant. Obligatory QF appearance at the Slams. Has wins over both Sinner and Alcaraz this year. Is he the only player who can say that in 2024?
7. Taylor Fritz - back in the top 10, makes his first Slam final. It's been a great year, but has he reached his ceiling?
8. Hubert Hurkacz - not too many highs or lows in 2024.
9. Casper Ruud - still a threat on clay, but facing more challenges on the hard courts.
10. Grigor Dimitrov - a pretty good year by his standards. Two major QFs and an M1000 final.

We've seen 5 different players reach a major final, two for the first time. Will we see more of the same in 2025?

Crazy to see dimitrov back up there.
Crazy for me would be surprised on how well he has played so far this year to achieve that Top 10 ranking. Another crazy for me would be why he’s suddenly injured when his best tennis as of late is great. I blame the way he plays with the athleticism he’s capable of. Too far he’s pushed himself with over the years, the body can’t keep up anymore. Ofc we know Father Time is creeping up which doesn’t help either

If you compare the Race to the Rankings, where Novak sits at number 9 and De Minaur replaces Hurkacz, does the top 10 seem less competitive?
