Some statistical observations after Wimbledon:

Novak Djokovic joined Ivan Lendl as the only male players to have reached five consecutive Grand Slam semifinals in 2 different streaks

Rafael Nadal reached his 5th Wimbledon Final. He has now reached at least 5 finals at two different Grand Slams. Roger Federer has reached at least 5 finals at all four Grand Slams.

If Roger Federer loses in the quarterfinals of this year’s US Open, he will have an identical record to Ivan Lendl in grand slam quarterfinal matches – 28-6.

From 1969-2003, a span of 35years, there were three seasons where a male player won three or more Grand Slams in the season.
From 2004-2010, a span of 7 years, there were four seasons where a male player won three or more Grand Slams in the season.

From 2004-2011, 8 consecutive years, every season had a male player who won two or more Grand Slams in the season. In the 8 previous years, 1996-2003, there were two seasons, where a male player won two or more Grand Slams in the season.

Roger Federer has been seeded number one at a Grand Slam at 22 Grand Slams. In those Grand Slams, he won the Grand Slam on 11 occasions.

Rafael Nadal has been seeded number one at a Grand Slam at 8 Grand Slams. In those Grand Slams, he won the Grand Slam on 3 occasions.

If Djokovic reaches at least the semifinals of the U.S. Open, he will move into a tie for the all time top 10 for most Grand Slam matches won in a season. At the moment, Federer has 5 of the 10 seasons and Nadal has 2.

That one is pretty artificial. I think 10 slam finals and then anther 8 slam finals in the row by Federer is one that stands out. Also, who can argue with 23 slam semifinals in the row. Congrats to Novak thou. He is showing some real consistency at slams. Hopefully he can win the USO this year or better yet lose to Federer at USO final. :)

Yeah, was going to say... Five in a row even twice sort of looks like amateur hour compared to 23 in a row.
