A tender, juicy, nicely marbled, perfectly cooked steak is hard to beat. A burger is more than the meat, so you can get away with less than stellar meat and still have a very good burger. If I had to choose I'd go with the steak, but a good burger is hard to resist.

No dice. It’s a roast. The steaks from the roast are ribeye steaks. I think at most restaurants if you order “prime rib” they carve it out of the roast not bring out a ribeye steak. They typically cook differently as well which also impacts the taste. And most people are probably not cooking a rib roast at home too often.

I think Fred Flintstone was partial to roasts (or maybe it’s a rack of ribs):

On holidays, dogs also love that time of year. They get the massive bones

Is it safe to assume most steak lovers get theirs rare? I like mine well done, think its kind of a waste
Depending on the quality of the meat.

Often at restaurants, I’ll ask for my steak or burger medium well. I only like pink when the meats good enough. And unless you are sure, safer to get it over cooked than under cooked.

You should see the faces of the foodie idiots I’m with when I ask for medium well at the over priced garbage places they insist on eating at.

I’ve even seen these foodie morons get pork that’s still pink. Yes, this can be ok if you are getting really good Kurobuta pork. But you won’t find that at too many places. I cook this to a bit pink at home. But just a bit pink. No medium rare pork for me thanks.

I’d like my Red Lobster steak at 127F precisely, sir.

And while we’re sort of on the subject, I’m also particular about which “farmers” I buy my vegetables from at the “farmers” market.

There is a very nice Mexican family I always go to. Real produce farmers. They have good stuff at a good price. They don’t try to sell near spoiled crap. Or stuff they are just reselling off the Kroger truck. My wife and I are regulars, so they treat us well and we also tip them generously. Good, honest people.

Sizzler still grilling?

I like steaks from Texas Roadhouse . Nothing too fancy, a 10 ounce sirloin, medium well with a baked potato and iced tea. About 15 bucks.

Steak and Shake regular steakburgers are too thin and greasy. That new burger of theirs looks pretty good. Milkshakes are great.

Both, but like many have said a decent burger is better than a decent steak. An amazing steak is better than an amazing burger.

The blue cheese bacon may put up a fight. Real blue cheese, like ice cream scoops when it cooks, nice thick bacon. Cheese is what seperates the burger, more versatility

Burger. You can just customize it so many ways and it's best at home on the grill when you get to pick the bun, toppings, sides, etc. I feel like I'm about to drool.

I've cut way back on red meat and maybe have it once or twice a month.

I prefer a burger as it's less effort to eat and digest but burgers inherently carry greater risk of contamination given the process of making hamburger.

Burgers are obviously much more affordable in every day life but as some have mentioned above, nothing beats heaving steak at a fine dining steakhouse

I voted steak. That said, I agree with a previous poster- the steak I make at home beats any steak I've ever had eating out, but I cannot say the same for burgers. Had some awesome burgers that I wonder what they added/how they spiced it up.

Thanks I had to make burgers for dinner tonight, first time i have in years and it was epic :)
Did the same last night. Added Lawry's, black pepper, onion & garlic powder, worchestshire sauce to the meat. Air fried the patties. Aight. May go out and get a Goopy burger, Ham & sausage burger. Part in a bun, G-rated

A great steak > a great burger. But I normally prefer a burger because i eat steak or ground bison 2x a day 5-6 days a week.

I prefer medium rare. I hate anything cooked past medium no flavor.

Done steak/Done burgers have plenty of flavor, idk why people say non-bleeding meat doesn't have flavor :D

NY Strip which is basically like a "shell steak". I usually have it with fries or a potato and asparagus. I find ribeye a bit too fatty but I'm in the minority, it may be the most popular. Porterhouse is great as well.

Always cooked to medium-rare.

To be honest steak is my go to meal

However, you can't have it as often without getting sick of it, but my last meal probably wouldn't be steak, it would be barbeque ribs, particularly baby back ribs.
Ribs are godlike

Salmon burgers, Gardenburgers or Masala burgers for moi. Might consider ground turkey burger (if mostly white meat).

Had my last steak back in the 1980s. Dad cooked it on his grill. Best steak that I ever had. Was never a huge fan of steak before that one. But after that steak experience, I vowed that I'd never have another. I figured that I'd always be disappointed in any steak after that one -- unless I paid a very hefty price in a fancy restaurant. Not willing to do that. Don't miss it all.
