Tsitsipas will beat Rafael Nadal in the Barcelona Open Final, or at least take a set. Tsitsipas and Nadal are the only two men who have yet to drop a set in the Barcelona Open. If Tsitsipas cannot beat Nadal tomorrow, I think he will someday. However, Tsitsipas does have a one handed backhand, so that may be trouble for Stefanos...

Nadal will ruthlessly expose both the Greek's BH and his lack of stamina. Rafa feasts on one-handed BH's on clay ( I know... "duh!") Tsitsipas hits 98% of his BH's cross court with no variety at all. Nadal will absolutely eviscerate this pattern of play. The kid has had a great week and congrats to reaching his first 500 final, but it will be a beat down. Great learning experience for T, though!

Why doesn’t the poll ask how many games (or better points) will Tsitsipas (what kind of name is that?!) win for more accurate predictions? This is just an opportunity for trolls to vote "Tsitsipas in 2" which now has more votes that "Nadal in 2"

If Tsitsi can hold serve (and it appears is able of serving over 200km/h), a 7-6, 7-6 scenario could be...well, not so absurd :)

Lol, no variety at all, Tsitsipas can hit heavy topspin and great angles on his backhand, it's like Gasquet's except better against high balls and he is taller than Gasquet.

And, btw, statistically one handed backhand players actually have a marginally higher win percentage than two handed backhand players against Nadal on clay.

He's 6'4" at least.

I like the angles he plays with, but I will be happy if he takes a set.

There was a recent interesting thread about OHBH being better against RAFA on natural surfaces https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...htmare-one-hander-on-natural-surfaces.615421/

maybe, but a lot of "will beat Nadal's" have died on the vine here, esp. on clay...vast majority of them

Pretty much, for like 90% of them I don't even know what is prediction based on other than wishful thinking.

Kid has an interesting game and clearly likes the surface but has neither the stamina nor the BH to take it to Nadal. He'll have to go on an all-out attack and seek the lines, people believe he can keep that up long enough to take a set? Even match? They must be seeing something I'm not.

yeah he can go anywhere with that bh... he even hits inside out bh's like wawrinka and guga.. thing is his forehand has been on... its been a big week for him.

i hope he gets to 4 all in the 1st set. maybe a tiebreak... rafa is a big reality check but an important one for tsits development. who knows maybe he zones out and grabs a set or... even 2?

Yes, I know you have to play who's in front of you, and assuming Rafa wins (haha), his path to the title was not exactly challenging:

Round - Opponent - ATP Rank
R64 - bye- 0
R32 - Roberto Carballes Baena- 77
R16 - Guillermo Garcia-Lopez - 69
QF - Martin Klizan - 140
SF - David Goffin - 10
F - Stefanos Tsitsipas - 63

Average ATP ranking of 71.8 (if you toss out the bye).

Bcz the Djokovics, Thiems, Carreno Bustas and Dimitrovs were wise enough to lose before facing Rafa.
To be honest, Barcelona had quite a tough field being a 500.

Yes, Rafa should have demanded to play Djokovic in QF even though he had lost two rounds ago. I would;t have complained a bit. Would have helped that h2h.

I don't see him winning, but the way he's playing, with a lot of confidence, he could take a set. But, I don't understand why he was so tired about only 2 sets.

The mental drain from reaching his first ATP final and beating 3 straight top 40 players is the issue, I think. It didn't use to be with guys like Mats, Boris, Borg or Pete at age 19, but the social media age players are vastly inferior at young ages from prior greats.

But he could have been facing the #2, #3, #4 and #5 ranked players and the results would have been the same. Fed would at least have made a respectable scoreline, but the others? Still beat down city.

The OP is overestimating Tsisitpas.
Rafa to book a practice court after finishing his match with more ease than expected.
After the trophy ceremony, he will ask the administrators to leave the court to himself.

Almost as easy as PCB's USO draw!

Somewhere 60's Weed will be smiling!

A Greek god born on 8/12 will take his first step to destroy the fedr mystique and replace the legacy of August 12th as the birthdate of ohbh Greek GOATdom.
First FAA and Fed and now this(Sampras and Tsitsi?):eek: Where do Kokk and Kyrgios fit in the pantheon?

I haven't watched one second of this Barcelona tournament so I don't know much about Tsitsipas and how he has played in this event and I've only looked at highlights of his play but I'd be shocked if the kid won a set in the final. It's impressive that this 19-year-old has made the final and he seems well-spoken and motivated but I think the train stops in the final.

He looked dead tired at the end of his SF match and Nadal was close to his best today.

The bulsheet Russian will be lucky to win 3 games.
giphy.gif

To be technical it was Medvedev who was called the Bullsheet Russian by the saintly Stefanos (the real bullsheet Russian who's only half with Momma in WTA and Grandpapas 1956 Soviet Olympic Gold in football.)

Remember when Nadal squeaked out a win against an 18-year-old Zverev at IW a couple of years ago courtesy of a choke from the youngster? Remember when he rubbed his vanquished teenage foe's face in the grit with a fisting gesture?

What manner of vulgarity awaits us now that he's a year older? We're on tenterhooks.

Well at least you admit you don't watch tennis.:D

I don't watch every meaningless tournament and every match the way you do. You do realize that there are other things in life besides tennis, right?

Also, the result of this tournament is never in doubt. Nadal to mow through the competition. What's to watch?

I'll try and take a peek at the final tomorrow to see how many games the kid wins.

I still have no clue why Thiem is even mentioned in the same sentence (or hemisphere) as Rafa. He's played like garbage for over a year and his supposed clay "prowess" has been exposed by journeymen this Spring.
Take out Nadal and Thiem wins the RG , Two RG Semis in a row , He’s basically just waiting for Nadal to decline to take the RG

Tsitsipas as well hasn't lost a set in Barcelona
R64 - Corentin Moutet - 137
R32 - Schwartzman - 17
R16 - Ramos-Vinolas - 40
QF - Thiem - 7
SF - Carrena Busta - 11
F - Nadal - 1

Four straight victories over high quality clay courters. Average rank 19 if you throw out the first round.

Yeah, like playing tennis instead of stat-ing and emoji-ing this board into the mental infirmary. Get out on the courts much, @Meles ???
