Federer could have played just Rome and Rg, I don't think that would be too much or ruin his grass season and things would be more interesting
I don’t think it’s worth the risk, he’ll probably play clay one more time before he retires but that’s it.

The Ledger Legend of Tsitsipas:(
1. 56.1% points won on clay this year - (Nadal career 56.0%, Djokovic 54.0% are the best since 1991)
2. 56.7% points won at Barcelona against the best clay courters (Nadal 58.0% this week against a much weaker path in Barcelona)
3. 46.0% return points won (Nadal career 46.6%, Coria 45.8%, Djoko 43.5%) Nadal 50.2% in Barcelona this week
4. 68.1% serve points won (Federer career 67.0%, Nadal 66.1%) Nadal 67.7% this week
5. 75.9% first serve points won (Federer career 74.5%)

vs early Nadal:
2006 Barcelona/Monte-Carlo 56.2% points won (Tsitsi at 56.1% for both events with MC loss to Goffin)
2005 Barc/MC 58.7% points won (Nadal 2018 59.6%)

vs peak Kuerten (Acapulco and Monte-Carlo 2001):
1. 55.7% points won (Tsitsi 56.1%)
2. 77.0% first serve points won (Tsitsi 74.0%, but higher first serves in for Titsi)
3. Both at 68.1% serve points won
4. 44.2% return points won (Tsitsi 43.5%)

With a bad loss to Nadal Tsitsipas's numbers could swoon a bit, but still these are great numbers by any standard especially the serve numbers.

Tomorrow's final may not be a walk in the park for Nadal. @cc0509 approved ANALysis.;)

Ha, ha! Do you see what I mean? You pull all of these useless stats out of your arse to help you make predictions like these, i.e. tomorrow's final may not be a walk in the park for Nadal, only to be dead wrong again and again. Why don't you open your eyes and actually watch what is going on with these players on the court? It isn't really that difficult to realize that Nadal has zero competition from these younger players on a clay court. Stop hyping these younger players until they do something to deserve the hype, i.e. beat Big Four players and win big tournaments.

I decided to catch up on some sleep instead of watching the match and I'm glad I did. What kind of scoreline is that?

At first I didnt like Meles but recently I began to like him more and more.Very rare case where I change my view on certain users.I also have watched tennis since I remember myself and I am not very good predictor at all

I like Meles because he's a good sport and doesn't take himself too seriously but he has to be one of the worst tennis "analysts" I've ever seen and his constant hyping of these younger players and ignoring how it's the older players who continue to win almost everything important, is comical. He starts to hype these younger players after they win two rounds in some insignificant tournament that 30 people on TTW watch like the Hungarian Open or something.

I had no idea who Tsitsipas was until yesterday when I checked out a 25 second highlight of his SF match. When I saw he had a one-handed BH, I knew it was going to be a drubbing in the final. LOL
Didn't even bother tuning in. Great win for Nadal though. Legend of clay! And that's one awesome looking trophy. Probably the best trophy in all of the ATP. Although the trophy used to be even bigger but aesthetically it looks better today.

@Mainad --just for fun, I looked up Andy's first-ever match against Rafa. The result really surprised me, and I have no memory of their first encounter at the AO in 2007. Muzz was up 2 sets to one, but lost it in five in the round of 16.
Muzz would’ve won that match if he had Lendl in his corner..

Could you imagine how many more slams Andy would have if he had Lendl at the beginning of his career? He wouldn’t had choked away so many matches like he did.

Of course Andy was still only 19 and nowhere near as fit as he would later become which probably accounts for the fact he lost the 5th set 1-6 after having played 4 fairly close sets. They have played each other very close on hardcourts with the current H2H on that surface tied at 6-6.

Edit: What I said earlier was incorrect. Nadal had already won several hardcourt titles by the time of that match.

Lendl is probably not the type to show interest in anyone at the start of their career. He wants to see some results and potential first before deciding if he can do some good.

Why post if you didn't watch the match? Nadal lost several long rallies trying to go after the Tsitsipas backhand and won only one second serve point in the 2nd set.

Very lazy cc. It was a very watchable match.

Thiem last year in Rome gave Nadal probably the most decisive loss of his prime career (ignoring 2015 and 2016). Please start watching tennis.;)

Your fave Zedzilla did that in back to back Masters events last year. Your other fave Federer won't even show on clay.

Meles, Is this a joke? Anyone who watched the match saw T get totally outclassed and demolished. Nadal destroyed the kid's BH, over and over. Who cares what Nadal's second serve was like, T never came close to breaking him.

Nah. It probably won't be as bad a scoreline as their 2018 final. But it will still be Nadal winning in straights with one close set (hopefully).
