Boo to grass. It's discrimination against those of us with really bad allergies.

(I'm kidding, grass is my favorite to watch and I love Wimbledon like a pet. But I do hate cutting the grass.)

^^^ Well I thought you're the first one here on TW to admit that grass is crap. Thank god you're not!

Just a side note, does AEGON own Britain now? They have the sponsorships of all 3 of the Grass tuneups in England, the 2 this wk and the tourney in Eastbourne next week. That's a lot.

AEGON Championships-Queens
AEGON Classic-Birmingham
AEGON International-Eastbourne

I guess the AEGON Open and AEGON Invitationals are next.

I don't think I know of anyone who hates grass either. How can you? There's not enough of it to get tired of it.

Well, they should know that they're making me hate the color blue. :)

I do. There is someone on this forum who dislikes grass. Won't say who though.

I'd be delighted if JCF and JB took a set tomorrow at Queens though, heck I'd even quite like either to win ^^

I suppose it's not impossible, but I feel like it's hard to hate something when it's really only two tournaments. You blink and it's gone. But to each their own and all that. :)

thejoe and theduh, I think you both just had one really bad day that has gotten you so low. Conversely, I've had one good day that has me in a very, very, very slim lead.

RoddickAce, I was just thinking yesterday during the scores how it sucks that you missed most of the matches the first day because you really have been pretty much at the top or near the top all the other days.

Children need encouragement. If a kid gets an answer right, tell him it was a lucky guess. That way he develops a good, lucky feeling.

Was the Blake match void? There's no way to tell that he was going to win :p

I'll take Murray in 2 vs. Blake

Djokovic in 2 vs. Haas.

EDIT: Also, I'm hoping that the winner/runner-up picks we made before the tourny started are only to be used if there is a tie, seeing as I got it way wrong. :p

Blake in 3 (not because I think he'll win, but it's only chance I have of moving up.)
Djokovic in 2.

T_M, those are the scores according to the rules we all agreed on a few tournaments back. I've listed them a couple of times to make sure everyone's okay with them. I have no preference one way or other, but we've all benefited or lost out based on them. I don't think it would it would be fair to change them mid tournament because they've been used to determine points so far, but I'll list them again if we want to change them after this tournament.

1. If there is a walkover, the match is void.
2. If there is a retirement, and you picked the person that doesn't retire, you get 2 points. No matter the sets or score.
3. If there is a lucky loser situation (like what happened with Safin this tourny), and you picked the person the lucky loser replaced and the lucky loser wins, you get points accordingly (2 for correct winner, 5 for correct winner and set). If you picked the opponent and they win, you get points accordingly.

----------
Again, I have no problem with changing them. As far as the retirements, if we're going to make one void, then we should probably make them all void as there's no way of saying a person wouldn't have come back even if they are down 0-6, 0-5 when they retire.

I'll change the scores if you guys really feel like we should change the rule, but as I said above, I don't think it would be fair to do so mid tourny.
-----------

Also, depending on the time the matches end, I might not be around to do the scores until late. I'm hoping they end before I head out, but we shall see.

Fair enough if those were the rules agreed @ that time, looking @ posts overall it seemed the general consensus was if you picked the person that hadn't retired and was 1 set up or a few breaks up then you would recieve those 2 points.

I'm open minded the retirement policy we already have going i suppose, although with the scenario you produced 0-6, 0-5 and a retirement, technically the player could make the come back but realistically he wouldn't.

You immediately run into problems if you start trying to define points of realistic feasability for a comeback. I think it definitely has to be a case that all retirements, regardless of when they happen during the match, are treated exactly the same.

As such I'm perfectly happy with the current ruleset regarding retirements, walkovers, and lucky losers ^^
