Stephen Curry Calls Game 6 of NBA Final most important game of career thus far

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-2016-nba-finals-most-important-of-his-career

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and his team have a 3-2 edge in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the back-to-back league MVP isn't taking Thursday's Game 6 lightly.

Asked Wednesday whether the upcoming potential closeout contest is the most important of his career, Curry responded, per USA Today's AJNeuharth-Keusch, "Yeah, we have a chance to win a championship, so definitely the biggest game, and I'm ready for it."

Curry also spoke about what he can do to help the Dubs' collective cause, per Neuharth-Keusch:

I want to honestly play better and more consistent, but the situation is right now we're one game away from winning a second championship, and I personally have 48 minutes to do what I need to do to help my team win. So right now it could kind of get lost in (the criticism). But at the end of the day if I'm sitting here tomorrow night with another trophy and celebrating with my teammates, we can talk all day.

The Warriors had a chance to end the Finals on their home court on Monday but failed to capitalize, losing 112-97 at Oracle Arena as Cavsstars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving erupted for 41 points apiece.

Curry scored 25 points but on 8-of-21 shooting in the prior contest. A big reason Golden State was unable to seal a second straight Larry O'Brien Trophy at a venue it lost in only twice during a historic 73-win regular season was Draymond Green's suspension.

Green will be back on the floor for Game 6 after his temporary banishment. His return figures to help the Warriors in their bid to end the series in enemy territory at Quicken Loans Arena.

Perhaps as a result of being banged up earlier in the postseason and also the sheer wear and tear of additional games, Curry hasn't been quite as brilliant in the playoffs as he was beforehand. He's shooting 42.4 percent in the Finals and averaging 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists to 4.4 turnovers.

At least Curry publicly recognized Wednesday he has room to improve and play closer to the level he did in the regular season, when he averaged 30.1 points, 5.4 boards, 6.7 dimes and shot 50.4 percent from the field.

If he or fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson gets hot from beyond the arc, Golden State could well seize enough momentum to dash theCavs' title hopes and end the series in six games—as it did against Cleveland in last year's Finals.

Curry is a talented shooter but his pronouncements are Jeter-esque -- trite and expectable, the sort of remarks that usually depict the next game as the most important.

It must be surreal to have even your most trivial comments become the focus of national news and discussion.

Anyone know what brand of jeans he's wearing?

I haven't watched basketball in some years but these playoffs have been so entertaining and I think the bad officiating has been convenient. Draymon Green getting suspended seems like it was completely ass backwards, I can't understand it. And it led to the Cavs stealing game 5. Klay Thompson has very poor defensive awareness most of the time.

Not only is Klay a poor defender for his 6'7" height, but when he tries to defend at all, he can't score. He uses up all his energy on D, so has no loft left in his legs. He's certainly one of the weakest scorer's in the paint, has anyone ever seen him DUNK the ball? His layups get blocked every time there's a crowd in the paint.
Dray getting suspended was too appease LeBron and the east coast haters. It's fine, it's good for him.
Cav's didn't steal Game 5, they hero balled it to victory, outshooting the horrid shooting Warriors in the second half. Made shots win the game, missed shots lose the game.

The Warriors, including Curry, are literally limping to the finnish line. Hopefully, they can find a way to win tonight.

Well they get Draymond Green back, which is enormous for them. They're also 14-1 after losing a game this season. They've only lost back-to-back games one time this year, and it came during the series against the Thunder. Also, only 2/32 teams down 3-1 in the NBA finals have ever even forced a game 7, and of those 2, both lost.

Are you kidding, he got 49 votes to make it to an all-defensive team, losing out to some seriously fabulous defenders.

So no. Klay Thompson is not a poor defender.

Just like the internet, don't believe everything you read.
Klay's principle assignment was Irving. Irving probably scored 30 when Klay was guarding him. The problem is, while Klay is 6'7", he's skinny and slow, and can't elevate. He's no Shumpert, Roberson, or even JRSmith on defense. Everyone he guards has career or solid games against the Warriors. True, everyone he guards is a heck of a top NBA scorer.
Steph is no wonder or D either. He's too skittish, moves too much, can't keep his hands up and stay in front of the guy he's guarding.
YOU probably read and believe all that crap about Warriors D being No.5 in the league this year. Pure BS. They are No. 5 because they outshoot and run the opponent until they're gassed, and can't shoot in the 4th, missing wide open shots so the Warriors win. That's also the formula for Warriors LOSSES.
Look at the games, like Game 5, when nobody on the Warriors could make baskets in the 2nd half, even wide open looks or layups.
Look at the Thunder games. Either team that misses in the 4th will lose. It's not defense, everyone is getting open looks. It's missed shots!
YOUR team has one Patrick Beverly I believe. Supposedly a lock down defender, how did Thompson/Curry get off against the Rockets?
Defense is great, blue collar crap. MAKING SHOTS determine who wins, or who loses.

First of all, just because I live in Houston does not mean that my "team" is the Houston Rockets. I have no allegiances to any team, thank you very much.

Secondly, the Warriors won that series 4-1, and Curry didn't even play the last 3 games... So they beat a Rockets team with Harden and Howard and some other good players 4-1 and did it without their best player and the MVP... I'm pretty sure defense played a part in that one.

He wasn't the finals MVP last year, and I don't think he should be this year either

Has to be Draymond Green without a doubt. If the Warriors close it out tonight, and I believe they will, it's going to Green.

Although a fun fact, when was the last time a player won finals MVP, but his respective team did not win the Championship, and who was he?

Beat writer's are always jumping on the bandwagon, instead of looking at the way the player plays, and make up your own mind.
Klay is just starting to learn the art of stripping the ball as the opponent starts to show it when he turns towards the basket. Andre has been doing it for 10 years now, Steph maybe 2. Klay lays off because he's tall, you'd think, but he can't jump, and he can't recove once someone blows by him to the paint. That's why he can't defend the 3 ball. Yes, he can stand at 19 feet and hold his arms up, anyone 6'7" can do that.
When Harden shoots 5 for 23, and he's 6'6" and can get his shot off over anybody anywhere, it's not D, it's Harden having a bad day. Harden on a good day is impossible for anyone to defend, so it stands to reason, Harden on a bad day ...anyone can defend him.

Jerry West in '69 the only time (I had to cheat and look it up though)
