stiffer strings vs. stiffer racket

Interesting that stiffer strings absorb a little more power from the ball and add more control to your shot and less power.

Stiffer racket is the opposite as it creates more power not less.
Stiffer rackets tend to absorb less power than flexible rackets. So stiffer rackets create more power.
Man, I had this wrong for years until somebody corrected me and then I researched it.

So what string should you put in a stiffer racquet? Ive got a new Vcore Si 98, which is fairly stiff. I put RPM in it because its what i usually used in my old racquet. I was thinking switching to something less powerful like Hexplosion which is usually used to create more spin.

Just adjust your string tension according to your needs. Wether it is a stiff racquet or a more flexible one, getting the tension that worls best for you will have the most positive impact.

I would put a medium or stiff string in a stiff racquet . . . and . . . a medium or soft string in a soft racquet. Then adjust tension. If you're putting a soft string in a stiff racquet you probably have the wrong racquet. The string bed response won't be linear.

Yea it's a matter of a lot of trial and error. I've come to love Luxilon Rough full bed at 55 pounds. RPM Blast is great is all you do is hit with heavy spin, but RPM is not good for flat shots, plus when it dies it's DEAD. I can play Lux Rough long after two weeks, it's not optimal but can at least still play. Lux Rough in a PS90 is THE most control I've ever had in a racquet, I use Lux Rough at 55lb in a Babolat Pure Drive, it's the best Power/Control set up I've ever had, but that's just me, tennis is so individual, do you take full swings? Do you use a Western Grip and spin everything? Do you hit flat? Are you a baseliner who likes long rallies, or a accurate hitter who likes to shorten points?

You have to experiment. Strings are everything, racquets are secondary. Trouble with demo's at TW or other places is that you can't really tell the racquet with average strings. So I for example have everything from a PS85-Babolat 100 PS, have tried most major strings in all.

Sublime, some of the newer polys can be playable for several weeks. Many people told me that a few polys can be as playable as multis ( in the long run- if you get the right string).
