Stiffness/Pain on Inside of Knee

After I play a match on a hard surface....the following day I am unable to stretch my right leg out (I am a lefty) because of a stiffness in the "notch" on the inside of my knee. This is not on the knee bone but rather on the side of my leg in the hinge area.

Is there anything I can do to prevent such as nsaid (prior to match) and icing immediately after playing.

thanks, Ken

See an orthopedic, if it does not go away with rest could be a torn medial Meniscus cartilage injury. I have had 3 small tears in the past 12 years, all inside of knee. Full recovery was an average of 4-6 weeks and was 100% - most recent was done in late June of this year.

Drak-my friend just recently had a tear in his medial menicus. I thought once you have a tear it does not go away and remains torn with occassional pain. NO surgery if tear is small but difficult to heal becase of poor blood flow. How did you manage to heal 3 menicus tears? How old are you-my friend is 54. He starts rehab this week and wears a knee brace when he plays. Any advice regarding treatment-particularly before and after playing to lesson his discomfort?

This is what my doctor told me, too-that a torn medial meniscus does not "heal". Therefore, I would be very interested in hearing about Drak's "full recovery" from this injury.
