Big thanks to The_Green_Mile and Krish872007 for helping me out with the numbers and correcting my obvious mistakes, sorry about that.

Now that we have the numbers, what analysis do you think can be gleamed from it? 2010 for Djokovic and 2014 for Murray stand out as obvious lowlights, Nadal and Federer staying fairly constant (with 2011 and 2013 being their respective worst years).

The trifecta almost have identical results including Old Codgerer, yet Primeray still languishes behind in this statistic.

The Big Three are simply too good.

Can Murray make it a big four over the coming years in terms of greats of the era?

Murray is one of my favourite players, look at my signature. I only did Djokovic myself because my hands hurt from all the typing and The_Green_Mile didn't do Murray because he is the most daunting.

^^ It was a Clay court though. Slow start for Fog, and some fans were getting under his skin (as usual, the same happened to Murray a few games later), but afterwards it became a masterful performance. Murray was playing average if that, though...

Why this one and not the Simon loss? Murray just fresh off an AO final, and gets routined by a guy he had beat 12 times in a row.

Because it's Fognini we're talking about here, in a 3 set beatdown over Murray? The universe does not compute.

Is there any chance that Fognini is better on clay than Murray?
To me this loss isn't bad at all, and Fabio played really well in that match infront of his home crowd

The smart money was on Fognini before the match, he's a significantly better clay court player than Murray. Sky Sports analysts would of been banking on Murray of course but their ability to evaluate tennis drops considerably when Andy steps onto the court.

It takes a lot of posts by a single user to make out what's behind it all. At least for me, that's how it is. I figured you're not stupid, but you don't care either.

Excellent point.
I'm from the south so we use slang galore here. I usually make sure I'm using proper grammer when my tennis hat is on. But it's not on much these days

According to the topic, there is an interesting fact about Federer which underlines his greatness in a similar way as (or maybe even more than) his consecutive slam final and SF streaks:

Between his French Open match against Kuerten (May 2004; 4-6, 4-6, 4-6) and his loss against Murray in Cincinnati (August 2006; 5-7, 4-6) he had absolutely ZERO straight-set-losses in 194 consecutive matches over 27 months.

Hadn't noticed Nadal & Fed got straight-setted almost everywhere on clay this year.
Jee, that's actually quite a big deal.

And what a beast Djokovic remains.

Hate to be the guy who shows up late and announces that there's a website which essentially does this for you in seconds, but, there's a website which essentially does this for you in seconds.

Here's the entire top ten since the start of 2010, along with total matches played and percentage of matches that ended up in straight set losses.

Djokovic - 26 / 445 matches = 6%
Nadal - 29 / 400 matches = 7%
Federer - 32 / 431 matches = 7%
Murray - 44 / 388 matches = 11%
Ferrer - 68 / 460 matches = 15%
Berdych - 68 / 435 matches = 16%
Raonic - 59 / 359 matches = 16%
Stan - 57 / 345 matches = 17%
Nishikori - 72 / 344 matches = 21%
Cilic - 69 / 326 matches = 21%

The list is yet another reminder that Djokovic is the premier tennis player of this decade. Although Grandpa Fed playing huge numbers of matches in his dotage and basically never getting straight-settled either.

Hate to be the guy who shows up late and announces that there's a website which essentially does this for you in seconds, but, there's a website which essentially does this for you in seconds.

Basically what I did... But people are lazy

Yeah after your references to the code etc I didn't think you'd be using brute force.

Although that does require a lot more effort and commitment. Which begs the question which is the lazier approach!! (eg that entire post took me 45 mins on a smartphone...would never have done it if it had to be done by hand!!)

@Supertegwyn @Krish872007 @The Green Mile

I went through every wikipedia page for each season for each player and tallied up the numbers on a pad.

I am an idiot.
