String and tension for Tecnifibre Tfight 305 XTC

Is anyone still playing with Tecnifibre Tfight 305 XTC? I understand that it is quite stiff, and the tension recommendation on the racquet is 49lbs to 55lbs.

Any recommendations for strings/gauge and tension? I generally play at the lower end of the tension spectrum.

Used Yonex DR98 with Tour Bite 17G 1.20mm at 48lbs, but ran into plowthrough and stability trouble with this.

I happen to play with the slightly lighter Tfight 300 XTC, but I think my intel might still be useful. A fairly fast swinging 3.5 player, I started out stringing the stick with Technifibre Multifeel 16g naturals at 55 lbs. This felt too lively so I switched from multifilament to a far stiffer string, the Gosen OG Sheep Micro 16g syn gut at 54 lbs. I love the more muted, control-oriented feel of the string in this, as you say, fairly stiff racquet.

That you strung your Yonex with a polyester string might have caused your stability issues since poly strings lose their elasticity so fast. Being nylon, syn guts maintain their effective tension and elasticity far far longer than polys while approaching their durability. I'd try stringing your 305 no lower than 50 lbs. with a syn gut like the OGSM or maybe a Prince Original Syn Gut. Want a softer (vs. crisp) feel? Try Forten Sweet 16.

Thanks Brando.

Anyone uses full poly for this?

I used Tour Bite 17G and 16L at 48lbs and 46lbs respectively in a DR98 previously.

If still TB, should I go 1.20mm or 1.25mm? Any comments on launch angle and string bite (based on string pattern) for this racquet?

Getting mine in a week or so, still using an older Tfight 305 version. Imo the 18x19 pattern works well for a hybrids, the 18 mains keep the soft string alive long enough and it's not too dense for spin.

I also like it with lower tension full poly, like 40-44 but that was on the smaller 95 headsize tfight 305. Like all low tension setups, it doesn't last very long though.
