String experiences/findings for Head Graphene 360+ Prestige MP

For the people that played with this frame: what are your experiences with strings in the 360+ Prestige MP?

Is it string sensitive for you? Do full beds of poly or hybrids suit this frame better for you? What kind of tensions work best? Etc, etc.

Interested to hear.

I just started playing with these frames and there is definitely a learning curve coming from a 16x19, the bed plays stiffer.

I've tried Triax 16 and while it had good comfort and was generally nice to play with, I desired something with more bite to help lift up those short balls and send them right back down.

It's also heavier than I'm used to so my rhs was a little sluggish on those shots. I'm currently playing with TB Soft 18 and getting pretty good control out of it, compared to that same string in a 16x19 which can get wild.

Tour Bite Soft 18 sounds like a great idea. I have that string in my collection. I'm definitely going for thinner strings in this one, and at least half of the stringbed has to be poly. But those are the only two things that are certain for me at this point.

I have wasted so much time and money with different string jobs and combination. I know Tennisnerd likes a hybrid although he wouldn’t answer my question of what strings and tensions when I asked on his comments on YouTube. I never found a hybrid I liked. The old Prestige MP I used poly in the low 40s (Tour Bite) but have found this MP to struggle with that.
Currently using full bed ALU Power Rough at 52 pounds.
Good luck and following

@Edgewood it is a journey and may never stop. Someone else's preference may be completely opposite of yours. And just when you think you got it, we change up rackets or something so it starts again.

I might need to step it up to 19g on this racket.

So true. I actually used Tour Bite soft 18g in my old Prestige MP for awhile but preferred Tour Bite 16L. Definitely a different stick than this new one though.

If only I had gloss paint on this Prestige... Truly looks beautiful on tour.

I don't have the racket yet by the way, hopefully next week. I did demo the Prestige Tour last year but it had very, very old and dead RPM Blast in it which felt horrible. So it didn't really get a good testing, but it felt promising. The MP seems to be the gem of the 360+ bunch, from what I've read and seen.

I’ve been doing hybrid of gut mains and hawk Touch crosses, Tecnifibre NRG2, and X-1 Biphase. I prefer in general having soft, powerful, responsive feeling strings. The Prestige MP has a nice softer feel. I quite enjoy using it and is in the rotation of frames I use.

I have Lynx Tour 17 in mine @ 44lbs. Did try my previous set up of VS gut 17 & Signum Pro Tornado, but found it too powerful for me in this frame.

Natural gut sounds like a good idea too. I have half a set of Wilson 1.30 gut. Have halve a set of NRG2 as well in 1.32 gauge. Aren't these a bit too thick for this string pattern though?

That’s exactly what I use. I put the gut in mains
I might very well give that a try. Maybe use Hawk Touch crosses as well or YPTP. Would 1.20 Hawk Touch crosses be fine or would they saw into the gut mains too much because of the gauge difference?

I use Hawk Touch in 1.25. I think it’s worth a try. Especially now in winter if you’re playing indoors hard court and not on clay.

I play 360+ Prestige MP with Head Lynx Tour 1.25 @ 22 kilos. Feels nice but you have to generate your own power. Not a scope, I know. When I re-string I will be trying out Völk Cyclone @ 22 kilos. I really like the grip and the power in that string. Another option is of course to try a gut/poly hybrid to get some of that nice gut power/feeling in there. A bit concerned about getting too much power though. Have to say I really like the frame. After the first 10-15 minutes of hitting it didn't impress me at all. Now, I enjoy it. You can really go after the ball and the precision is second to none. I love how the frame allows me to hit up on the ball and still keep it inside the baseline of my opponents. It's like the ball reaches its highest peak really close to the baseline and not as it flies over the net. Might sound weird, but I definitely enjoy that ball flight a lot.

What tension and SW do you play that setup with? Thinking I should drop some lead (currently 326 SW with full bed poly, V-Torque Tour) but thinking the frame might actually play better with lower SW and livelier string setup. Plus I have to manage arm issues that come and go. Thanks.

Unstrung my SW is 320SW. String it @48lbs

That's gotta have some decent plow by the time it's strung. I can't get there I don't think, I'm at about 298 SW unstrung with static weight 327g. Stock it was only 307SW (strung) compared to the demo I hit with that was 325SW. I prefer balance around 315-318mm, so to maintain close to that and get around 330 strung SW I'll be pushing 360-365g static weight. Which takes me back to where I was with my Gravity Pro (and one of the main reasons for ditching it in the end). Anyway, appreciate the input, I'll see how I go. Will definitely try the string setup.

Had a multi at 48 first, but didn't work, balls were flying and no control. Based on the recommendations from this forum, i had it strung with the Tourbite/Vanquish hybrid at 50/53 (17g/16g) and it is good so far!!

I like VS gut mains at 50 or 51 lbs, Alu Power crosses at 48 or 49. All 16 gauge.

Full Alu Power at 48 is also pretty good but I prefer the feel from hybrid’s plus I get longer string life / reliable tension.

At first I was using Hawk Touch but I was breaking them way too often.
