string question

The only problem i think you will have is fraying of the Nylon. The Hurricanes last very well and fell ok but you do need to use them only as hybrid. If you find you do not get enough durability out of the crosses i would suggest Xcel or another synthetic gut. Also make sure to drop the tension of the hurricane a couple pounds because it is so stiff.

So, I should use a syn. gut for the crosses? what about Hurricane by themselves?? I was stringing my other strings at 54. Would that be a good tension?

I'm going to have to disagree with the "fraying" comment. X-cel would be in most cases much LESS durable than a 15l Tournament nylon. A tournament nylon is more or less very similar to a synthetic gut, except the nylon grade is (sometimes) worse, and the wraps are typically "fatter." I don't see any real problem using it as a cross, it'll be fairly similar to a syn gut set up, but thicker.
