Hey everyone,

Just got a BLX (2010) 6.1 95 18x20 and was wondering what strings and setups you’ve used. Looking for some recommendations.

Had 2 clients that used this class of frame. One was a 5.0 and he preferred NXT Control 17 at mid-range - 4#. The other one is a younger 4.5 using 4G Soft or 4G Rough at lowest recommended #. They could both hit the snot off the ball. Do not know what they are using now since I have seen neither for a few years.

I put a poly like Alu power rough in the mains along with forten sweet crosses. I hit with a lot of spin, but low drive spin also. Mix in some slice on the backhand. Typhoon or others like that aren’t bad either in the mains. It’s a great racket, sometimes I like this one better than the k factors.

I have used full bed alu which is awesome, full bed cyclone, revolve, trionic, xperience, and countless others. I don’t lose any spin with a hybrid so pretty much have stuck with that now since I went back to the six ones.

Edited to add - the six ones are pretty powerful. Playing with a full bed of multi would be tough for me as it would get launchy. Hybrid gives plenty of control. My game has evolved to where that’s just a great fit in this racket. I actually seem to have even more control with a hybrid than a full bed. Who knows, mind games. Like terry tate.

A full bed of Alu power is what I was thinking of trying next in this one or my nCode. What do you think of a hybrid with natural guy? Have you tried it?

That’s going to be the shizzle, but I’m too cheap and haven’t tried it.

You have the ncode also? Another great racket. I just love six ones, I’m so back in love with them. I want to hug them and squeeze them.

Maybe they deserve nat gut.

For the hybrid - 52/55 - poly/syn gut. If I put in a full bed of Alu, I went 52 all around. I like a stiff bed. I think USPTAR’s suggestion is probably more normal. (Just realized this was you. Haha. Sorry, yeah your suggestion is probably more normal for a full bed. I just seem to lose a little control - or confidence - in the 40’s. )

Natty main with poly cross was my go to in ncode 6.1.

Monogut ZX main with 4g cross is now my setup and would recommend. Cheaper, a different feel but has a nice pocket better control with more spin.

What tensions with your zx/poly setup? I’ve never tried that and am curious to know how it might compare to other setups.

Kevlar/zx at 90/40 prestretched was my favorite setup in that frame.

Why try to send someone into a complete science project that will probably require adding weight to prevent injury with the stiffness of the Kevlar. That is a players frame with unlimited set ups that play really well.

Thanks, think I’m gonna try a softer poly and softer cross and try 47/47
Tourna Black Zone 1.25/ Sensation 1.30

I think you’ll love that. But sensation on the crosses will be a bit harder stringing. Part of why I went to forten sweet. White just pushes right through any blocked holes and plays just as soft as sensation.

Also, forten sweet lasts a bit longer. Bonus.

Right on, will have to try some Forten Sweet. Heard good things about it for sure. Much less expensive as well. You think it plays similar to Gosen Micro Sheep? Have used GMS more than any other cross in hybrids.

Very close. A lot of people like Gosen better. To be honest, I really don’t know why I pick forten over Gosen. It just seems a little softer in a cross , maybe?

Madison Keys laying the smack down in Charleston today. That’s a Wilson 18x20 with Luxilon Alu/NXT at 58/58.

Trained for an hour and half with a 5.0 player at lunch. Hit the magic with this combination.
Wilson 6.1 95 18x20
TBZ 1.25/Sensation 1.30 48/48. Good all around the court and easy on the arm. No noticeable wear. Very little tension drop off.

I play with the ncode version. Full bed of Lxl 4G @ 58lbs.
Before I was using Tourna big hitter blue rough.

Tried a hybrid with gut the other day, was different, cant tell if was better or not, but i prefer the full bed of poly.
