String recycling?

I received an email yesterday from a college student interested in my used polyester string. He is offering to send me a container with prepaid shipping to fill and return. Fine with me. I guess the plan is to make polyester fabric from used tennis string. You can learn more at his site if you are interested: https://orobor.org/

Edit (About an hour later): I'm going to post the actual text of the message here because I may have misinterpreted the meaning of "pre-labeled shipping box" as prepaid shipping. I've removed his name from both the beginning and the end of the email.

To whom this may concern,

Happy New Year! I’m currently playing on Boston University’s tennis team. I am a founder in a startup company (https://orobor.org) that is specializing in repurposing used tennis string and turning it into sustainable fabrics and materials (particularly clothing).

We are currently partnering with tennis clubs/pro shops around the country to repurpose their used string in the following way:

1. Set up a pre-labeled shipping box with a trash bag in the shop/club.
2. The used string gets put in this box.
3. Once the box is full, collect the box and ship it to us for repurposing.
4. Replace it with a new one!!

The process is very simple on your end and I hope you consider participating in this mission to create a more sustainable practice in the tennis industry.
Thank you,

I wonder if I will need different tensions for slacks and shorts?

All kidding aside, I hope there is a good way to recycle string that is as effective as ball recycling has become!

I asked many years ago if the Garbage Black Bin or the Blue Recycling should be use for plastic tennis string. I was told several times by the Garbage company spokesperson that it should be dumped in the black bin. I guess that you could melt the old strings and spin new polyester fibers from them. Question is what does one do with the variety of colors.

I heard back from orobor and their intention IS to provide prepaid shipping but it's about a month out. I provided a link to this thread and suggested maintaining a presence here.
