String reel newbie: enough to string how many racquets?

Does anyone know how many racquets can you string with a string reel of length 330' and 660' respectively. I'm talking about traditional player's racquet like PS 6.0 85 (or anything under 95 sq in). Thanks!

Depending on how elastic the string is, you can probably get by with a string length in the 32-35 foot range for an 85 sq. in. racket, maybe even a little less once you get things dialed in.

Conservatively speaking, is that roughly 10 racquets for 330' reel and 20 racquets for 660' reel? I don't string my own racquet so I have no idea. Thanks!

Yes, roughly. It depends on the skill and knowledge of the stringer and the type of machine he is using.

I always cut more than I think I will need. If you come out short you lose your work and your string.

Judging by the price of the string reel vs individual package (e.g. PSGD), the saving isn't that great. You are saving very little money per string job.

PSGD 17g 660' string reel: $66.95 / 20 = $3.35
PSGD 17g individual pack: $3.79

Difference: $0.44

biggest advantage with some reels is the time that you save. i have
found it easier to work with string off of a reel than out of a package.
the packs are wound up to tight, and sometimes you can lose some time
trying to un-coil them.

That's a good point.
