Stringing Configuration

I string my Wilson N6.1 Tour 90 racquet with Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18g at 54lbs. in the mains & Tecnifibre NRG2 17g at 60lbs. in the crosses. I’ve tried various tensions with this configuration & found this configuration best fit my game.

Recently I thought I would try & switch (reverse) the orientation the strings. I strung my racquets with Tecnifibre NRG2 17g at 60lbs. in the mains & Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18g at 54lbs. in the crosses. When I went out & hit with this configuration, the racquet had a totally different feel. The string bed was way too tight & my power dropped significantly.

I have a Stringmeter & check the tension, which reported the same reading as previous stringing jobs with same tension.

I have a couple of theories, but can anyone explain why this occurred.

Also, if I keep this configuration, what tension you might suggest to achieve the feel as my regular stringing?

In the reverse configuration, the TiMo, regardless or having been strung at the same tension, because of it's shorter length, is way stiffer than in the normal configuration. It's true that the NRG2, by the same explanation, should be way softer than in the normal configuration, but I guess the stiffness of the poly is just too high. In other words, when you reverse the setup, the same proportion of softness and stifness of the strings is not maintained.

When i do a "normal" configuration, the same as you; i string the mains tighter. However, when I do a reverse configuration, I go for the same tension all around. From experience with the strings I use, I know what tension will give me the same firmness of the other configuration. I think the overall tension for you would be 55 or 56 pounds. But keep in mind the feel will always be different.
