Stringing example #2: Wilson Blade 98 18 * 20 version 7.0

Here is another update of a pattern I like to use on a racquet that comes by regularly, the Blade version 7 in 18 * 20 stringing pattern.

As always, curious about your opinions on this!

End result:

Start Head, skip 8+10H, 8+10T.
Tie off mains at 9T, crosses at 6H and 7T (for 2 piece stringing).

Now, I have a preference for stringing 1 pieces, so in this case it goes like this:
  • short side (always left side in my case), after 6M, do Yonex loop to 8M and come back up to 7M. Both 8 and 7M with tie off tension. Tie off at 6H.
  • Long side, continue normally, ending with 9M at throat.
  • Continue there to 19C
  • Then come up on 9M (on the short side of racquet)
  • Continue with C1 up until C18, using tie off tension on 18C
  • jump over to C20 (C19 has already been done) and string with tie off tension
  • Tie off at 7T

For this client, I string it at 22k mains and 23k crosses, resulting in a SBS of DT35,5 roughly.

PS: I used to do it differently, where on the short side I would als string 1C after 8M and tie off at 6H, and on the long side start at 20C and finish after 19C on 12T. But I like the new option better!

To give you a better idea, it looks like this then:

C19 done with long side first:

Finished mains on short side and done some crosses, starting at C1:

Looks good to me. You did the Around the world on the short side.
You skipped the last cross on bottom and did 19th cross.
You could do the 20th cross with the short side.
Just another option.

Hi,

Thanks for you reply.

I am not sure what you mean? The 8th main ends at the head. When would you string X20 with the short side, after which main? And how would you continue with the long side?
I meant, in photo 2, you did the 19th cross. You could do the 20th cross instead as well.
The mains are good on both sides.

Ha thanks, yes I know, so my original post:

TF Ergo one?

I see the machine is unstable. Go to 8.27 mark and multiple other times in the video.
May be he doesn't have it leveled or properly set.

I'd seen in the pics posted above that it's an Ergo One, but I'd seen just the pics, not the video. Leveling the machine should be a pretty easy fix.

Yeah, just being lazy not to level the machine. Seen this guy abunch on Youtube, this isn't surprising.

BUT, no big deal to me.......or anyone.

Update for this pattern:

I have changed my routine for this racquet, now using the UKRSA option, so I do not have as many hard weaves anymore. Racquet also comes out full point harder of the machine. When strung with 22/23k (mains and crosses) it roughly was DT35,6 before, where it now comes off the machine at DT36,6. So I dropped tension with this pattern (by 0.5k), resulting in same SBS.

SS:
M8, clamp.
At end: M9 and X20, tie off 7T

LS: M8, X2-19, M9, X1, tie off 6H

(PS: I also tried the Diredesire option, which also works well without hard weaves)
