Stringing Help

I bought a machine on the cheap side a while back, its silent partner flying clamps, 6 mount inside support (not very good), and a estringer tensioner... when stringing i feel like im always loosing tension from the flying clamps, and possibly the not so great tensioner, should i set it a couple pounds more especially on the crosses... i dont feel like the flying clamps are holding tension that well, am i being paronoid or should i being doing something, and could this racket support system be damaging my rackets, cause that would suck

check to be sure that your clamps aren't slipping. You can mark at the back of the clamp (on the string) while the tensioner is engaged to help you see if the string is sliding through the clamp when the tension is released. Flying clamps will have drawback, this is natural. If the clamps are holding the string properly, and you still find the string job to be too loose, then up the tension.

so if im looking for 60 lbs i should set it to like 62

Don't string for a tension.

If you string it with the machine set at 60 and it feels loose, bump it up 2lbs to 62.

Again, don't string with the goal of getting a tension. 60lbs has no performance value. The value is what the stringer does to a racquet with a machine set at 60lbs.

It depends how serously you play.

If it's casual, then do simple tests to see if it's slipping. If it is, buy new clamps.

Competitively, upgrade!

Well, before you go out and buy new clamps, just try cleaning them with some rubbing alcohol. The Silent Partner flying clamps are OK, and shouldn't slip if clean and adjusted correctly. Actually, I'd be more worried about that low-end SP electronic tensioner.
