Stringing junior racquets

For reference, they are 23" racquets.
I told my client that it's a bit of a waste of money.
The better option is to use that money towards the next size junior racquet. (which obviously comes pre strung)
But I get it, if the kid likes a color string (like the prince rainbow) it can be appealing to them.
And parents generally want to give their kid everything they ask for.
If the kid enjoys tennis more because they like their racquet and strings, sure why not...

After doing some brief research:
  • need to do 1 pc stringing, 2 pc will not fit
  • 21-23" racquet tension range is 30-40 lbs
  • 25-26" racquet tensions range is 40-45 lbs

Please let me know if there is anything useful to know, or something I forgot. (y)

It is a waste of your time and the client's money.

35# may be too much especially if the frame is aluminum. I would suggest 25#. For ref, I did an aluminum adult size 27" frame at 50# and the racquet warped a little. Warned the client in advance, but he only paid ~$30 for it.

I would advise against it but if it an aluminum frame, with a plastic throat piece, I would string the crosses bottom up. Make sure the frame is not distorted and before you tension the first string, after mounting the racket, verify the racket is 23” long. Aluminum rackets are easily distorted, and you stand a good chance of cracking throat string top down if tension is too high.

EDIT: I’d check the throat before you start cutting strings out to make sure it isn’t cracked already.

Yeah, those cheap racquets are acceptable to string bottom up, despite what some people say. Even the USRSA says so. I generally recommend people don't restring those racquets, but some people insist on it anyway. Sounds like you did it well though... I'd only use synthetic gut around 30 pounds and likely one-piece because there's probably only 2 tie-off holes.
