Stringing Machines in the UK

Hi,

I am currently using a Pro's Pro pilot stringing machine and I am looking to upgrade in the future.

I suppose the max I will spend is £800-1,000 but less would be best. I am looking for a good mounting system not like the rubbish one on my current machine and electronic CP system.

What would you recommend that is available in the UK. I don't really want to go down the Pro's Pro route again.

Probably the best machine in the UK for your budget would be the Tyger StringProfi - 630. Electronic CP, excellent build quality and good customer service too. Available from tennispl@net uk. If you want more details drop me an email.

Another option for a decent electronic in your budget would be to get a Wise (£414 from W&D) and a good crank machine. The R-A-B Stringmaster 1000 is a top quality machine but it would be at the top of your range (£612). I've heard good things about FST machines - the table top 600 (£415) and pedestal 650 (£475) cranks look to have the same table with self-centering side supports and 'W' shaped load spreading centre supports.

You could also ask Liam Nolan at the UKRSA if he still has the Babolat Star 3 for sale, which is in your budget (http://www.ukrsa.co.uk/equipment/). :)

Thanks for your messages guys, much appreciated. The Tyger and the Star 3 stand out to me. Is £750 a good deal for the Babolat and are they still making parts for it, if it was to break?

*Just found out it is a single clamp machine, not sure if this is really the best option to lose a fixed clamp?*

Just wanted to add that I bought my 2nd hand machine from Liam Nolan and in addition to selling me a good machine at a good price, he is an excellent guy to do business with and will not leave you "in the lurch" after you have parted with your money.

Liam probably has access to lots of contacts who may be selling 2nd hand machines so if anyone is interested in buying first time or even upgrading they should contact him.

^^^ I'll second that, I know Liam very well (having run training courses with him), he is a very knowledgeable stringer and a good machine man! The Bab will have been well looked after, however, the fact that it is a single clamp put me off taking it off his hands (that and the fact I have a brand new Tyger Ultra800 sitting in the front room!). Also, bear in mind Babolat have stopped making parts for Star 3's and earlier machines, once the current stocks of spares are gone you could be stuck.

Cheers

Listen to Ash! He gave me great advises when I was searching one for me, although I'm not in the UK.
