Strings for Yonex Percept 97D?

Hey everyone,

This is my first post here, so apologies if this is the wrong section.

I’m a competitive college tennis player with a level around 4.5-5.0 (sorry we don’t use NTRP ratings in my country). I’m switching from Babolat Pure VS 2022 to the Yonex Percept 97D because it really complements my game’s consistency. I’ve been demoing it for about two weeks, and it feels and plays fantastic—especially for my previously injured wrist.

However, when I strung it with my usual setup (full bed of RPM Blast Rough at 23.5 kg), it didn’t play or feel quite right. I’m specifically looking for a bit more spin potential since I play with what they call “next-gen” counterpunching, yet defensive baseline style.

I’m considering poly mains and gut crosses for a hybrid setup, but I’m not very knowledgeable about strings and could use some advice. Does anyone have recommendations, particularly those who’ve used the Percepts or had similar needs?

P.S. I understand this racket isn’t typically associated with easy spin generation, but it works much better for my consistency and wrist comfort, which is why I’m sticking with it.

Thanks yall in advance:)

Hey @exypnos, welcome to the community. I also used the 2021 vcore pro 97D for a couple years, which is similar to your 100D. Like @leng jai, I found a medium-firm shaped poly in the upper 40’s to work beautifully with these frames. Specifically, I settled on Solinco Revolution 17g (1.20 mm) at 47 lbs. Really good feel, control, spin, and comfort.
