Strings like 4g for my RF97?

BagelMe

I was wondering if the Solinco Hyper G 17 could be a good replacement for Luxilon 4g.

Switching mainly because 4g is getting expensive! Also because it is one of those strings that don't feel stiff, but is very stiff.

Also, as the title mentions...are there any other strings to replace 4g, at a better price point and comfort level?

thanks!!!

Edit:Also, considering going down in tension with the 1 set of 4g I have left from 54 to 50.

Kirshbaum Max Power is very similar to 4G. It gives you a bit more comfort with similar playability.

hrmm, my post didn't post.

have you considered a 4g and multi hybrid? good way to soften the bed and reduce cost a bit.

I use 4G at 50lbs or Solinco Tour Bite at 52lbs in my RF97, so if a fan of 4G, then you couls like STB. I feel Hyper G is a lot softer then 4G and lasts about half the length of time. Another alternative is Kevlar/ZX hybrid, stiff and great control, js like 4G.

Also consider the 4G Soft. I thought it was quite arm-friendly with great spin and tension maintenance. The price, however, is probably the same.

I've been keeping poly users happy for a couple years with Isospeed Baseline. I stock reels of various gauges and they sell at TW for $40 each. Maybe worth a try considering that the price boils down to a little more than $2 per set.

Yes. I find Lux 4G expensive too! Will be considering Solinco Hyper-G next.

However, i find 4G quite plush at 50 lbs on my Yonex DR98 n very plush on my PCG 100 @ 53 lbs.

Just wondering what u meant when u said 4G "don't feel stiff, but is very stiff"? :) What made u come to this conclusion?

60?!!! Id like to keep my wrists...

That's actually too loose for me. If I had to restring, I'd up it to 65. 60 lbs I was still sending more than 50% of my shots long. It's actually not that bad, the frame's drill pattern makes the little squares quite large, so it's a very open string pattern even by 16x19 standards. Contrast that to my Yonex DR98 which is also 16x19, those square are very tiny. The RF97 to me is an incredibly open string pattern and therefore incredibly lively. 65 lbs is a great place to start I think, if you want to swing it fast.
