strings, motor oil, car waxes, etc.

i am finding that there are tons of forums on motor oil, car waxes, and etc. they all have the same obsession with using the most "value add" products. e.g. car wax under 10 that lasts a year or syn oil under 20 for 5qt that can go 12k miles.

these are the similar things i see in the tennis forums about strings. value, feel, how long they last etc.

it's just amazing how people have obsessions that keep people interested. very healthy and good hobbies.

I once had a car that would drink a litre of oil every 1000k or so. My buddy used fancy expensive oil in his and replaced it every 5000k religiously. I took his used stuff and would put it through mine to save some moola. Saved me more than 2c i can tell you that.

Thread title mentions "motor oil" so i thought i could add that little vaguely related anecdote.

And here I was thinking this was about string lubricants

For us gearheads, discussing the merits of substitutes for benchmark labels is what makes it all fun.
