hi guys, I'm looking for strings that play similarly to Luxilon 4g soft, but are cheaper. I'd like to find a string with similar spin potential, stiffness, and tension maintenance. It seemed like Solinco Hyper-G was similar, do you all have any other recommendations?

Hyper-G is a great option! A couple others to consider would be Kirschbaum Pro Line II and Tourna Big Hitter Blue Rough.

How low-powered is 4g Soft? I've left two if my frames in to be strung with it and I'm concerned they might be a little dead and boards like. Should I be?

It's by no means powerful, but it has a bit more pop than strings like regular 4g or other luxilons. The spin potential is also very good in my experience.

Just had a good hit this evening with my Dunlop Bio 400 Tours freshly strung with 4G Soft. I went with 46lbs as was concerned it might get too boardy any higher. This string is not totally dead in my opinion and has just enough power to get the ball away. Nice spin and great control are standout features for me. I also love the "crack" sound it makes when really ripping the ball.
