Strung Kev/Zx @ 90/40...can I re-string crosses?

For the experts and as the title suggests, I strung my PT 630 at 90/40. I played once and feel I want the crosses 1-2 lbs tighter. Can I cut out the crosses and re-string them? And how? I have a gamma progression 200.

Do it all the time. Put the racquet on the stringer and mount it a bit tighter than normal. On my gamma there is an adjustment that can push the 12pm and 6pm apart. Dont go crazy but adjust that a bit tighter than normal.

anyhow once its mounted, cut out the strings. Do NOT cut them out with the racquet not mounted on the stringer.

Then simply pretend you just finished the mains and then string new crosses. Personally I dont use a starting knot or a starting clamp especially with zx but just be careful and string as you normally would. Prestretch the zx. This is crucial IMHO because the kevlar is stretched and probably wont lose much tension, but the zx will have normal initial loss.

Also look closely at the mains. Note where the crosses cross the mains and reverse the weave. This puts the crosses on the side of the kevlar that is not notched and should help in playability and longevity.

BUT before you do this, did you really only play once? I would play a 2nd time and see. Kev/zx usually softens after the 2nd outing.

Just forget the last sentence. I misread the original. You want it tighter! But its 90/40!!! LMAO!

You can reuse the same crosses - just cut at the bottom and unweave. No need to waste. You can just add a few feet of new string at the bottom after you restring.

Thanks a lot for the prompt feedback. To avoid any misunderstandings!! :)
When i said tighter, I noticed playing yesterday that I would rather increase from 40 to 42-43 max.

Travler, what do you mean by adding a few feet of new string? -> I cut out, unweave and restring and obviously this is not enough to tie the knot. Should I tie the existing (ie residual from the current job) one hole sooner and just add a piece for the last cross?

You could try some string savers before restringing. People report that it makes things tighter but my measurements didnt show that.
