Sturdy shoes for clay with wide forefoot

Hello everyone,

Hope you are doing well.

In the past I was using Nike 2k11 Breathe (it was like 10-12 years ago), the shoes were undestructable. I was using them till the sole has worn off completely. After a long break, 2 years ago I decided to come back to tennis and I bought Nike Air Zoom Vapor X Clay.
These shoes - although they are quite comfortable - are of very low quality. In two years of sporadic play - the shoes completely tore where I have a forefoot. The shoes were not tight, so despite having a wide forefoot - I don't think this is the reason for the shoes tearing.

I'm starting to play on clay in May for the summer season, so I need to find shoes that will last for a while and are suitable for my foot. Good cushioning would be an added advantage, as I have a problem with my knees.

Many of my colleagues recommended Asics Gel Resolution, for example model 8. What would be your recommendation?

Thank you in advance for your feedback,

Kswiss typically run wider in the forefoot, as do some Adidas models (barricade)
My recent experience with the Vapor Pro suggests Nike is going slightly wider in the toebox these days.

I personally use the Yonex Eclipsion 4 clay version, really like them. Comfortable, good traction, and seem good quality.
I think they're a pretty true medium, maybe feel slightly wide as my feet are narrow.

Well - I've just received the Asics Gel Resolution 8 from the courier and... its not good.
The lenght is okay, but the shoes are terribly tight and strappy. Much more than Nike Vapor.

I'm not sure if they will split / streach up and even if - how it will affect their lifespan.

30 minutes after receiving the package, I spotted the recommended Diadora Torneo 2 Clay with free shipping and return and ordered them. I will compare the two shoes and if the Diadora fit better - they will stay - and the Asics will be sent back.

The reason why I hadn't ordered the Diadora Shoes from the first place was that I wasn't sure if these shoes are sturdy. It is quite unknown mark here in my country.

What country are you from and which shoes would you consider sturdy?

I'm located in Poland.
Don't get me wrong, it is just Asics, Adidas, Nike are really popular. Next in the line we have Babolat, Wilson, NewBalance, Puma, K-Swiss. These marks even if not really known from making the tennis shoes - they are also very popular. And then we have Diadora - quite expensive shoes, recommended on the forum - but will they last longer than my previous Nike Vapor or will they broke after 2 years like them? That was my concern. And many of my friends had / have Asics Gel Resolution and recommended that model.

Nevertheless, I ordered them [Diadora] and I hope they will fit on my foot.

Gel Resolutions are the best, but hard to find in wide. A friend falls down a lot in Lacoste clay wide lol But the stands too upright imo

I guess it would assume on use because for some peoples here, lasting "2 years" is 5 to 10 times long than what they usually get out of a shoe

when you say they "broke after 2 years" which part of the shoe broke? The outsole? The uppers tore? or the cushioning disappeared?

The joint between the sole and the top of the shoe on both sides of the foot has torn. And I played in these shoes like one goods season and one occasional season (2x per month). https://zapodaj.net/964bee17d8dbe.png.html Example here. They also tore at the connection between the sole and the top of the shoe, but I forgot to make the visualisation :P

I take back what I said about the 2 years thing and realize this was referring to clay court shoes

in which case 2 years seems quite under the 10 years which I hear some members boasting about

I have a wide forefoot as well, cant fit 90% of the shoes on the market. Gel resolutions are not good for wide forefoot. I settled on babolat propulse fury 3 clay version. decently wide toebox. The best toebox of all time is head revolt evo 2.0. But I think the babolat propulse fury 3 is more stable and better quality

I love the Adidas Barricade Club Clay court shoes. Stable, wide-ish forefoot, comfortable, good cushioning, breathable.

what else has worked for you recently besides those 2?
Some shoes were fine if I sized up: artengo TS500 (but not good durability), adidas ubersonic 4 (but I actually think these were really uncomfortable in other areas, never had so much blisters), wilson rush pro ace were fine as well when I tried them on in the store.

By chance you ever tried the Uber 3 or no?

I just received Torneo 2. It's like heaven comparing to Asics. Very comfortable for wide feet. Asics will be returned.
Thanks for the advices!

Guys, since i wear barefoot shoes i couldnt fit comfortably any tennis shoes, until i discovered the wilson rush pro ace, amazing, cheapest than most and excelent quality, also widest forefoot i have tried in a tennis shoes, more so than the k swiss hypercourt express 2, i ordered 2 more pairs because it just lets my feetbe so much, nothing like any other tennis shoe, besides as far as i know they only sell it with one sole, which they call all court but its basically a clay sole a bit more sturdy
