Super G V1 Pro?

Anyone know if Volkl is planning to release a super G V1 line? Specifically the V1 pro. I'm interested in the frame, but don't want to jump the gun if they're coming out with new ones (even if its just a slick new paint job). Any info on specs would be appreciated.

As far as I can tell, Super G is nothing else than medium-sized V1 grommets. The size of the Super Grommets is about midway between Volkl's regular grommets and the V1 grommets.

So for V1 Pro to go "Super G" would actually be taking a step back in terms of comfort.

But stick around. I am sure we would hear from TennisMaverick's messenger.

It's being shown for orders!

Scotus - After looking a little closer at the Super G grommets, I see what you mean. I wasn't aware that was the extent of the technology. Although, now I'm even more curious to see what exactly they're going to do to it.

True, but there should be an update around the corner anyway. Hopefully the new v1 pro can be more head light, which may improve spin potential and maneuvability. With the current v1 pro I can hit heaivier balls and like its feel on contact, however the balance is not preferable.

Thanks I didn't know this. I was going to put SuperG grommets on my V1. Doh!

Does the V1 Pro actually use the Big Grommets from the V1 Classic or something else? Thanks in advance.

The grommets of V1 Pro look identical to those in the Organix V1 MP (except for the head size difference).

I do not own any classic V1's, so that's something you might want to ask TW.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Volkl's

I have most of the volkl frames. The one that calls me is the 8 815g. Best plow throu and nice fat sweet spot, beating out just about the full lineup. Paired up with a goos med soft coploy you be hammering.. It is even rated with a larger sweet spot than most of them including the 8 G. I added some lead to 10 and 2 which raise the spot up a bit. Winner for me ...But they are hard to find now (815g). You may see it's light weight original favor out there the 8, you could lead it up (properly) and see....it a stiff one...but arm friendly...

So, new V1 "PRO" Super G? Electric Blue? When?

Thanks!!!!

The V1 no Pro is this one...

Plowthrough from an 815-gram racquet?

No kidding.

Which 8 version are you talking about? Super G 8? Red and some yellow? I think you mean 315, correct?

In the TW Questions Section I think TW says there won't be a 310 g version.

What a shame. I've been playing with the 310 for quite some time now and was curious about the Super G upgrade. Oh well, maybe I'll give the new 295 a try. But I love the 310, so I might just stick to that for awhile.

If they were going to. The one version, I wish they would have made the new version, the darker black/green color; the neon look is hideous.

Now it looks like there may be a Super G V1 Pro around the middle of the year. Saw a post in the Questions/Comments Section.

Super G is just a different paint job and a different grommet set (larger and supposedly softer).

TW has already stated that the Super G grommets will fit the older Organix models, so what's keeping you from just ordering a set of the new grommet and turning your racquet into a Super G?

Just the grommets and a paint job... Not much of an upgrade then.

I didn't realise the Super G grommets fit the Organix series. I'll definitely give them a try then. Thanks for the tip.

Rich, did you have a chance to try the Super G 7 grommets on the Organix 7 310 racket?

Anyone else tried the Super G grommets on the older Organix series?

No, I haven't (are they even selling the Super G 7 grommets yet?). I'm currently playing with the Super G V1 MP, but I intend to upgrade all my old Organix sticks (the 7 (310), 8 (300) and 10 (295)) with Super G grommets. So far I only got the Super G grommets for the 10. Haven't installed them yet, though.

Watched the video review of the Super G V1 Pro (name is too long). It seems that the general consensus is that it's more powerful but softer/more muted than the Organix V1 Pro.
Has anyone else hit with both and can comment? Is the new Super G too muted? Is the power of the Organix nice and controlled?

I think they are talking about subtle/minor differences. By biggest issue with the Organix V1 Pro was that it was super muted and a little head heavy/sluggish feeling. Sounds like they fixed the latter issue,
but I am hoping it's not as muted as before.

Yea the almost even balance of the OV1 Pro put me off from even demoing it. The 3pts HL of the Super G should improve maneuverability. But, if it's too muted I am not interested. Maybe TW can hand pick a HL OV1 Pro if I ordered one. How is Volkl's QC? I'd imagine pretty good.

The Organix V1 Pro is very muted too...you won't like it.

I have hit the new Super G a few times. To digress a little I also hit the Super G V1 Midplus and in comparison think it is a stronger update to the Organix version than the Pro update is. (Currently playing with the Organix V1 Pro).

The ball pocketing on the Super G Pro seems better and it does swing a little quicker. The lack of vibration is noticeable compared to the Organix version but not as pronounced as in the Midplus version. The Super G Pro hit well overall but I did notice a little instability on my backhand side against heavy hitters. It does give a little more power on the serve and I was hitting it pretty smooth from the forehand side. I probably need to customize a bit to get a better feel.

Can you expand on that? The new SuperG V1 MP is a big improvement over the Organix version? Details please :)

Tell me what part? :) As to the Super G V1 MP, I always felt the Organix version had a tinny (I guess that is a word) feel and that you got lots of feedback when you were off center. The Super G V1 has a more solid feel, more like the v1 pro but without the increase in weight. It is so plush for anyone experiencing arm difficulties. It feels more solid all the way around and is more stable against heavy hitters (perhaps due to the new grommets and vibration technology). I think the power level is about the same as the Organix version. I think the control is slightly better also but that could be my imagination.

I can't imagine someone currently hitting the Organix version not liking this update or finding that the two play very differently. I have not tried the super g grommets on the organix version to see if that changes my assessment. Since I have been happy with the v1 pro, I probably won't engage in that experiment but would be interested in the findings of others.

Can you compare the two (Super G V1 MP and Super G V1 Pro) a bit in terms of overall feel, control, power (especially on serves), and plow? I recently purchased and am playing with the MP, but am also interested in trying out the Pro. Thanks.

By the way, have any of you all swapped out the grip on the Super G's for something else, perhaps a bit thinner? The SG V1 MP that I just got feels like a grip size larger than I usually play, even though I ordered it in my grip size. I usually also include an over grip, but that hasn't been a problem with other racquets. Any suggestions on a slimmer base grip that I could try and still use my usual overgrip so the overall feel is a bit smaller?

I like the Prince ResiPro grip. Has good cushioning and feel but isn't overly thick. Comes stock on a lot of Prince racquets and I've found no reason to change it.

Thanks. I use a Wilson Pro over grip and reluctant to change over grips at this point. This Prince replacement grip also gets good reviews, in addition to yourself, so will give it a whirl.

You just got the racquet. The grip will compress and "mold" to your hand after a few hours' play and should feel like your regular size. I doubt Volkl changed their grip sizes and didn't tell anybody.

I use Wilson Pro OGs too and they work nicely over the ResiPro.
