Surely Fed's racket will be a new line

It must be hard for Wilson to keep reinventing the same racket so they must be thrilled that Fed has decided to give another racket a try.

Since the Blade line has been around for a while I'm sure they will create a completely new line........I wonder what the Fed fans would like the new racket to be called........something meaningless like a combo of letters and numbers or something cheesy like Wilson Legend etc

I'd love a PS 98, but the box beam has sacrificed for more power. The frame can be convincingly painted into a Blade, so why not a new Blade variant.

It would be awesome if it was matte black with the PS85 style red and blue lines with a BLX style lettering. Also, it should be called Wilson BLX Pro Staff 98 Amplifeel and have a graphite feel "à ala PS95".

They should have a new PJ for the US Open, no?

I believe that in the North American Masters they should already have the new model released.

Anyway, Federer stated yesterday that this racket doesn't belong to any line that exists nowadays. It would be really cool if they release this in the prostaff line, with the old scheme of colors (black with the tiny stripes).

It's always red and white, with a little black. It would be cool if he brought back the PS 6.1 in the black again.

Worst case will be .... Wilson make whatever racket which looks like fed racket then make same paint job. Consumers will get totally different racket than actual fed racket.

If fed use either H19 or H22, hope we can see those rackets.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in one of the other Roger's-new-racket-threads, but apparently, Wilson has created something completely new.
Just look at the written transcript of Roger's 07-17 press conference.

Yes. There was an interview video.

Fed said "I can't tell you everything" that sounds like "I don't know what it is" haha
Probably Wilson gave bunch of rackets and he picked the racket...
It can be real prototype or H19 or H22.
I am wondering fed knows what the H19 or H22 rackets are.

Pros might not know too much about rackets. Monfils did not know he plays with H19 ^_^

Wilson Blade Pro 98
- More weight
- 16/19
- Different paint job (different enough to be able to identify each on TV)

^I'd be up for that, but I wouldn't make bets as to what they're going to do. Wilson can be unpredictable.

Realistically, I think they probably started with a H19 or a H22 mold and tweaked it a little to be more in line with a 90's specs.

If Fed sticks with it, I wouldn't at all be surprised if it was marketed as a PS 98.

Just saw a Wilson rep who was talking with my coach (a teaching pro that is signed to wilson.) After some careful eavesdropping, I heard the Wilson rep say that the fed 98" frame doesn't belong to any current line (So as of now it isn't going to be a blade, steam, juice or pro staff.) Rumor is that the frame will hit the market mid-august. Interesting timing by Wilson, and I'm excited to see what the numbers on this thing look like I PRAY it has: 1) a decent paintjob, and 2) they actually sell us something remotely similar to what he uses, and not some 98" 16x19 that weighs 11.5 oz strung.

wow. How exciting. Can't possibly be more viral marketing to dupe the pretentious and the gullible, cant it?

It should just be called etcetera-etcetera.

And pretending the same thing is new technology.

What with their goofy new names like Juice and Steam... it'll probably called the Sweat 98... or maybe the Bronze 98... perhaps the Lemon Pro 98

They should market the new frame as having real goat milk in the layup. For the 'added feel.'

I think "tour" and "98" are given......I actually quite like GOAT 98, rolls off the tongue. Would be embarrassing if he starts losing though.

Vapor Tour 98 seems to be inline with Juice and Steam but perhaps vapor belongs to Nike.

Would be funny if they go for Wilson Farewell Tour 98

How about a nod back to the days of wood racquets and call it the:

"Roger Federer Autograph"?

Even better, it should be supplied with a matching headcover or full-length thermo bag. For the current generation of fanboys who have never purchased a racket that came with a cover, it would be a mind-blowing concept and one that Wilson could properly exploit. Witness the recent fevered enquiries about the retro HEAD headcovers Nole and Murray revealed at Wimbledon.

A suitable price premium of +$30 over current RRP would be about right. :)

Wilson , please make this racket black all the way through. The only color besides black should be the accent stripes or design on it like the old prostaffs or ultras. Then the rackets would not have paint chipping off.

^Pro stock only frames that are designed after Head Prestige and Radical moulds. Useful when recruiting an ex-Head endorsee (like Djokovic in the past), or just because some pros like it this way (Monfils). Both can be convincingly hidden under a Blade paintjob due to the similarities of the moulds.

I'd like to see this new 98 in the ProStaff line I guess.

Anyway, the name, line and stuff doesn't matter. A 98sq with about 340gr, 16x19 pattern, leather grip and overall similar stats to rackets such as the PS85 and the PS90 would certainly be worth a demo :)

I don't sell many people with the the fed rackets, even when a racket manager for four years we sold very little. He helps push the brand of Wilson but his 90 racket is not a top seller imo. Wilson are looking to the future, and that's the blade line.
