Swiatek...countdown to racquet change

Since there was no stencil at RG, and she wasn't really known before, it's so obviously not a joke.
:D
If it's not a joke I'd love the source of this revelation because I don't know a single person who thought Iga plays with a Dunlop.
As for being known. Worldwide maybe not. But in Poland she was known to people who were into tennis.

Can a Hydrogen Tattoo paint job tempt her..?

Iga is still a high-risk signing. She looked great at the French Open but the WTA has many one-hit wonders. She had better nail down her sponsors soon. I hope she stays with Prince, but I'm not holding my breath.

Nobody can understand why possible good selling rackets like the X, Phantom 107, reissues like the Chang were not sold global? They could gain much more money with that than selling in a small Japanese market that is 80% Yonex.

Yeah it looks a lot like a TRebound Tempo with White, Black, and Blue. But then again, it was blurry and could have been another Tecnifibre too.

If I'm not mistaken, it has to to with the rights to the brand. Prince Japan has (little to) nothing to do with Prince in the US f.inst.
When Feliciano Lopez was sponsored by Ellesse a few years ago, he wore some of the best looking outfits since forever. Problem was, these were Ellesse Japan only. If you have a solid home base and the international rights are owned by someone else ... Shame though.

In this Youtube video there is a clear view of the Tecnifibre racquet (1:08-1:29):
It is 16x19, so I would guess it is either TFight 295 RS or TFight 300 RS. Unlike 315 RS, which is also 16x19 but much heavier, their weight is pretty similar to Iga's previous racquet.

Seems like a tragedy to me. She won a major using one racquet, then is immediately switching to something else because they offer more money. Not good for Prince, and not so sure it's good for her in the long run.

They will probably just be painting over her Princes with whatever frame graphic she is endorsing.

This happens a lot in the industry.

LOL,, Problem is technifiber racket looks nothing like that prince she was using. even the beginner newby will be able to tell it looks different. but then people are so stupid these days that if you tell them its optical illusion, they will believe it.

but there is No reason for deception. She will be very happy with Technifiber, just about 4-6 weeks of getting used to then she will win 3 more majors right away

Tecnifibre are making some very very solid frames, one of the best out there nowadays! They claim they dont make prostocks, and that their pro's only customize the actual frames made for sale. Medvedev is supposed to be using the same TFight 305 Dynacore that was up for sale back then, just w the current pj. Kasatkina is supposed to use also a TFight 300, pj as a TRebound.

Then again, who knows! The thing I've heard from Tecnifibre inside ppl is that they're very proud of their stuff and they dont play the pj game for other brands. It was true w Verdasco when he first was bought out of Tecnifibre: he wanted himself to buy his frames from Tecnifibre, and have them painted by his new brand (Head?) and they would play that way....

I think the issue is less with TF than with the TF potentially being different enough from her Prince. Somehow I doubt they will just paint the Prince -- can people give examples of people painting over a different brand recently (not blacked out)? I know of the Mauresmo and Safin cases way back when.

If they are repainted isn’t that still a pro stock by the means pros can only get them? Many of the heads are repainted of previous models too aren’t they?

Dont know.... maybe! But I've always though PROSTOCKS are completely different racquets that ar actually put out in stores, completely different molds. I dont know if the PT57A and the whole other bunch were ever put out in stores, back in the day?

You would have to refer to the head prostock thread, but I think the PT57a is the same stick as the 90s retail pt630/280

This is a matter of semantics more than anything else and you're likely to get different answers from different people.

I don't know what TF/Babolat do, but Head has a line of prostocks (with TGT code) that are identical to retail frames (same mold/layup) except they do not include commercial weights in the handle so that pros can customize. Head also has the PT code prostocks that often come in layups (and sometimes even molds) that are unavailable to the public.

PT57A2 was sold in retail as the PT630/PT280, but I believe there are other layups that pros can request?

If TF is simply repainting retail sticks (with commercial weights added), I'm amazed that pros are able to get to the balance/weight they want.

Marat seemed mighty happy with Dunlop too,

Only recent example I can think of where a racquet company has painted a competitor's frame to look like their own was Qiang Wang playing with her "Yunlop"...... her old Yonex frames painted with a Dunlop cosmetic.

I thought this was really dodgy when I first saw it, but I dont know how long she used this setup, and there may have been some explainavle reason behind it. I havent watched her play at all this year and it may have only been out of necessity while she was waiting for the real-deal Dunlops. There may have been a temporary agreement in place with Yonex, too, not sure.

I know there have been a lot of wording changes in how player now "endorse" racquets rather than "playing" them which obviously allows for pro-stocks and all sorts of chicanery while protecting the manufacturers from consumer complaints.

Obviously something like painting a competing manufacturer's frame opens a whole other can of worms because its not just manufacturer vs consumer but manufacturer vs manufacturer vs consumer.

I think I play better with my non-capped PT280 (china) than my capped PT280. Safin, on the other hand, clearly could not live without his!
Had an Uncapped PT630. Teammate from BITD felt it was a log compared to his PT57a.

I acquired it only recently. It came capped, but I believe the CAPs were added by the prior owner.
So it could be the added weight and SW by the added CAP on that particular PT280. Were you able to measure the spec on both 280s?

Definitely. I haven’t managed to get it to my pro shop thanks to covid. Hopefully will do that soon — I’m also looking to replace the pallets the CAPped one to an L2 (currently an L4). Still deciding whether I prefer TK82 or TK82S!

From L4 to L2 is a big “jump”. Otherwise it’d suggest using a Wilson feather thin if you were only going down to L3. I have done one from L4 on the TK82 and it is very L3 like before aiding my usual OG.
Suppose TK82 or TK82S is a personal choice. I have kept all my Head with the TK82 or whatever the rectangular shape they have originally. Lol
Good luck with the covid situation in your area. Keep safe

The L4 was advertised as an L3 to me. I only realized when I saw the big "4" on the pallet while changing the replacement grip. While I can play with it, I become less confident about swinging out the moment my OG loses tack. Thankfully it is a Head stick -- I'd have a tougher situation on my hands if the pallet was molded to the hairpin.

Honestly, I also need to make a decision on grip size/shape and just stick with it. I have played with: Wilson L3 + 1 Pro OG, Wilson L2 + 2 Pro OG (both on Amplifeel Blades) and TK82/rectangular L2 + 1 Pro OG. All of them have their pluses and minuses. I'm liking the TK82 L4 on the PT 2.0, so I might try to go that route for the PT280.

Hope you're also keeping safe.
