Switch from PS97 - Flimsy?

Hey!

I have been playing with the 2015 PS97 basically since it came out (prior to that was hitting with a Kblade 93) and have always used a full bed of multi. I really do like the racquet, however lately feel like it is a bit too flimsy (not sure if that is the right word for it - unstable potentially, and am having trouble with lead tape customization). I have been hitting with a friends Wilson Blade 98, which feels a lot more solid and I like the feel of immensely more than the PS97. I thought it might feel more solid because of stiffness, however I looked up the numbers and the stiffness of the PS97 is higher than the blade ??

I was wondering if anyone has any other racquet recommendations, coming from a PS97? I am very keen to also try the Yonex ezone DR 98 as I have heard really good things about it. Any help would be really appreciated.

:)

I can recommend the move to the DR 98, a very good junior is thinking of the same move for the same reason. Another frame he likes is the Pure Strike 16x19

Why not just go with the new Blade 98 if you like the feel? Also, I preferred the feel of the Pro Staff 97S a lot more than the PS97, which is something you might want to consider.

I think the Textreme Tour 95, Tfight 315 (with a little lead), or DR 98 are all great choices, as well as the Pure Strike.

If you don't mind a previous model, I would seriously recommend you to try the IG Prestige MP. To me, it still feels and plays better than the new sticks. They aren't too hard to find, either, in good condition.

Try the 2017 PS97
Even if the difference is only in your head, it plays more solid than the 2015

I've been using the PS97 for two years now and plan on trying out the new Ezone 98 that's due to come out in a few weeks. I'd do the same if I were you. Although the DR98 would be a great racquet to move to as well.

Boy,
I woudn't can the PS-97 flimsy, unless you are comparing it to a RF-97. 6.1 95 or the like. The DR-98 is certainly more flimsy..

Yeah I really don't know why but recently that is just what it feels like to me. Would you happen to know how to explain why the blade 98 might feel stiffer (more solid and stable) than the PS97, when it has much lower stifness specs?

Not stiffness, you're thinking of torsional stability I think (perhaps plow too). Try adding some weight at 12, may fix it (the Blade has higher swingweight generally).

I have good results using head protective tape, or something similar. It adds weight to the entire hoop, and adds a lot of stability. A more flexible racket is also more forgiving on off-center hits, all else being equal. Many PD's(and other rackets) you see the pros using are based off of the LITE molds - as low as 64RDC, then weighted or lengthened/sized to their specs, or otherwise modified to be less stiff by stringing etc.

I'm on the look-out for possible move for my son as well. He's playing with a PS97LS which is even flimsier. I've weighted it up to 11.2oz as a stop-gap but probably need to demo some racquets soon.

The junior I speak of used to play that frame and then switched to the PS 97. He is rather tall for his age though, he's 14 and more than a head taller than me, upper 180s cm range I would say.
