Switch to Yonex Ezone 98

Hey everyone!

So I recently posted about getting the Ezone 98. I have it for a week now and I really like it so far. Surprisingly it's quite different from the Babolat PureStrike Project one7 (my old racquet). I definitely get more pop with the Yonex.

At first use i noticed the swingweight is faster. It felt a bit light so i added a total of about 5 grams of lead tape to the racket. Half on the head at 3 and 9 and the rest on the grip so I wouldn't change the balance. Not sure if it makes a huge difference but I got a better feel of the racquet, maybe more so because I got used to the swingweight rather than the lead tape itself.

But yeah i thought that the the PS98 and Ezone98 would be almost identical but I'm wrong. It's a lot more easier to generate power with the ezone. I did not lose much control though — i think it just has a larger sweet spot and also not as stiff (the reason i didn't like the PS as much). I strung it with hyper-g at 53. so far so good.

Here's a link of my first singles set with the Yonex. Sorry the sound got messed up a bit.

I made the switch from the Pure strike Project one7 to the ezone 98 at the start of the year and agree with what you said 100%. Definitely get more pop.

I have been thinking about adding some lead to my too as sometimes I am a bit too early with the lighter swingweight so this might help me out a bit.

My favourite strings so far have been RPM blast rough or cyclone both strung at 51.

They are both supposed to be control oriented. But I felt like the PS was a bit too stiff. I knew my ball should be going faster than it was. Haha. Finally found the right balance with the Ezone.

The extra lead definitely helps. Mess around with it a bit. I used the 1/4 inch lead tape. I tried it on 2 and 10 but the balance felt a bit off. It felt perfect on 3 and 9 though. Remember to counter the same weight by adding to the handle
