Switching from k95

The past year with the k95 has been very shaky for me. Im not a very big person, and the weight and stiffness of the k95 have given me constant trouble(especially on my serve). The reason i went with a racket so heavy is because i love the stabiliy.

Im looking for a new racket that plays simliar...but not as heavy/stiff as the k95 18x20 and that i could lead up myself for stability.

Rackets ive tried in the past:

Kblade Tour - Very under powered and not a big enough sweetspot for me.
Rqis tour 1 xl - Not a very stable racket, not a fan of yonex head shape.
Pure drive Gt - I dont hit with a ton of spin so it was hard to be consistant with this racket.

Has anyone switched from this racket and found another or does just have a suggestion?
 
hmmm, did you ever hit w/ the pro staff classic 6.1? a solid performer that's well balanced I gotta say... a close second that feels stable is the older 6.0 95 that's available pretty cheap these days; often overlooked... I hear the babolat storm feels old school once you lead-tape it to your game specs, but I have yet to hit w/ one ~ there's no denying the pros love the babolat frames and, as they say, the proof's in the pudding...
 
I suggest you try these ones:

- Dunlop AG200 4D 18x20
- Head MG or Youtek Radical MP (add some lead in the handle)
- Yonex RQis 100 MID
- Babolat Pure Storm Tour (not the LTD)

All of these are excellent frames, all lighter than what you have now. Choose based on the stiffness, if you think your current frames is a bit hard (which in my opinion it is), start with the Dunlop and the Head. Otherwise start with the other two. Good luck!
 
I second the PSC 6.1. If you are like and are sticking with the Wilsons, :), try the Wilson Kpro Tour. Just demo to see what you think

YouTek Radical MP would be my top suggestion for you (without having seen your strokes).
Dunlop 4D 300 Tour is good too. Both probably will need some lead for stability.

k95 has not so much weight as it does a strange weight distribution - if I was you I'd demo some other heavy sticks too like Rebel Exo 95 and 4d 200 - I think they both swing more comfortably then k95 even though on paper they shouldn't.
 
i switched from the k95 to the mg prestige mid. IMO the k95 had too much power while the mg prestige mid is just perfect. However since you had trouble with smaller head i suggest something bigger rather than mg prestige mid.

The reason why you see a lot of the pros using babolat frames these days is due to a genius marketing plan when babolat began making racquets again. The plan...they decided they would give frames away to a lot of the top juniors at a very early age. They were hoping that those juniors would like them and grow up playing with them, and eventually turn pro using them. The gamble paid off and the plan worked perfectly. Now, there are a whole lot of pros using the babolat, which will in turn, make all of the future generations want to use them as well. There's nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't buy a racquet just because some pro uses it. If I was going to do that, I would go with the Wilson K6.1 for obvious reasons.
 
I used a K95 (16 x 18) for 3 months, developed a shoulder problem from the stiffness. Dumped it and purchased a KBlade 98. With a leather grip, my KBlade weighs 11.8 ounces strung, which is perfect for me. Not as stiff and much easier on the shoulder, took several weeks to adjust, but I would never go back.
 
I am a K95 6.1 user and happen to really like it. But given what you are concerned about, I suggest trying the Kblade 98--similar "Wilson feel" and sound when you strike the ball in a bit of a lighter stick. Get a demo and spend a few bucks to string it up the way you would likely string it an hit with it for a couple of days--the best way to really test drive a racquet.
 
You may also find the PSC 6.1 too heavy. It swings lighter than the K6.1 95, but actually weighs a tad more.
I will second the Wilson kfactor kPro Tour - a little lighter at 11.6 and a more open string pattern (16x20), but you can customize with lead to make it heavier.
 
Try the Yonex RDiS 93" Hewitts Stick.Plays similar to the k95.Lovin mine,took a while to adapt maybe a week to get used to the lower swing weight,but still plays very solid-stable.The sweet spot is quite generous and the quality of the racquet is like no other.This was my first Yonex ever, been using Wilson's 95 line since I was 12 I'm now 31.Not the traditional yonex looking stick a little different mold it seems.My transistion has gone nicely.Demo first since it is quite costly but in Yonex's case you get what you pay for.Sweet players stick.Still a stiff stick though 68ra.

I also found the stiffness of the K95 ( 18 x 20 ) to much for me to handle. I eventually switched to a KPS88 and found it a lot better. The stability on mishits, power, control, everything was better except my backhand and serve. The weight is something you can get used to, but their are many ways of modifying it to play lighter (trimming bumperguard, replacing leather grip, lighter strings etc...).

Yeah i tried the rdis 93 once at it was solid, but i didnt like the strings on it since ive only used poly the last 2 years. Maybe ill demo it again and change the strings myself.
