Switching to the new AeroPro Drive+ Cortex

Pretty dramatic switch for me- Prince Tour mid-size (customized with quite a bit of weight on the handle and the sides of the frame) to the AeroPro Drive+ Cortex. Demo'd the AeroPro Drive+ and loved it but with the Cortex coming out for this version I felt the difference between the Pure Drive with and without Cortex. Liked the Cortex better and just ordered eight.

People have been asking about the new bag and it isn't on TW so I ordered it through ************.com, the only site I could find it at.

My only questions are these: do Babolat racquets come with dampeners? Do Cortex racquets?

When i ordered a couple of the PD cortex frames last year they did not come with dampeners.
Could you tell us a little more about the APD cortex?
How is it stability wise compared to the APD?
I always felt that with a little bit of weight added to make the apd more solid, that it was the perfect frame (standard version).
Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Haven't hit with it much.. the only reason I have been able to is because I live at Bollettieri and its fairly easy for me to get extremely new equipment. Philip Bester is trying out this new Prince SpeedPort racket that I've never seen before. (not the current SpeedPort ones, this one's a 5.0+ player's racket.)

I'm in a tournament next weekend and I'll report back on how its playing. My order should be here by Wednesday at the latest, I'm not sure if it will be out tomorrow or not.

Yea i love the bags so i will buy them, and put the bull on it. but that cortex plus had fairly heavy swingweight of 336 i believe, isn't that too heavy ? I like the swingweight at about 324 or so. what do you think?

I have a compact, quick swing. This racket was pretty much exactly what I needed, giving me the spin and power I need.

hey so philip isn't using the n6.1 95 anymore.

I was able to hit briefly with APD-Cortex (27 inches) and stabilility is no different from original APD, not unexpectedly as it seems to otherwise be the same racquet. Still feels light to me, prefered the Roddick.

Is the aero pro drive w/cortex heavier than the previous aero pro drive? Secondly do u generate alot of spin with the new aero pro?

When you get your frames and have played with them, the question that needs to be asnwered is:
Are they worth upgrading from the Aeropro drives, or are the basically the same frame?

Yeah, you should ask that question to yourself. I just think its the same frame with a better paint job and a better technology. But it'll probably hit the same.

I've hit with it a bit and I think unless you really love the Cortex, or have money to burn, you really don't need to upgrade. The frame is pretty much the same.

I'm not completely positive. I've seen the Prince dude who goes around throwing rackets at all the IMG-sponsored players talk to Bester quite a bit lately, and the past couple days he's been using this new SpeedPort one. It's like bright gold/yellow colored.

i've seen it my coach works at img you might know him rob broden he is really heavy set he didn't like it compared to his 03 tours.

Just wondering, did you try out the APD Cortex 27"? (If so, how'd they compare?)

i tried out the aero pro cortex today and my first impression was that it was slightly more powerful than the older version. it was much more arm friendly but i found that my dropshots were a bit off...not sure why as i was playing really well and normally they are good...i suppose i have to get used 2 the new feel of it.

I also feel that the New APD with Cortex has more power, a few of my forehands were flying long. It does seem a lot easier to flatten out the ball which was something i had trouble doing with the older model. Do you think it would help my control if i tightened my string tension? To help my consistancy

It could be the dropshots are off due to the cortex dampening the feel for the ball???

Did you demo the standard length (27") AeroPro Drive w/Cortex before choosing the 27.5 Plus? If so, why did you select the Plus?

i am currently using the flexpoint prestige mp and was thinking about switching to babolat APD or PD with or without cortex.

i just have a couple of questions about these two raquet...

which generate more spin?

which is easier to hit flat?

and which is good for serves?

It seems like everyone agree that Cortex is much better in either version. APD cortex is a amazing racket, can generate more spin, can hit flat if you wish, and great for serves, and volleys too. I was amazed how well it volleyed for supposed baseliner rackets. for that reason it is one of the best doubles racket as well.

I agree that the new APD cortex has more power than the APD. My forehands were flying away too. I have tightened my tension twice already to help with this. I think I'll have to try again:confused:

I was hitting my forehands at about 73-75 mph and it was not flying long. strung APD cortex at 65 lbs. or maybe it is cause my forehand has 3000 rpm spin on it??
