Syn gut crosses in hybrid: will anything do the trick?

When stringing a hybrid with your good old favorite poly string in the mains, do you choose wisely what syn gut you will put in the crosses? Is the difference noticable between all those cheap syn gut out there?

Gosen OG Micro seems to be a popular choice here and i like it too but i have several packages of Wilson extreme, Babolat Superfine Play, Prince syn gut with and without duraflex, Gamma syn gut, etc. Will all of those crosses perfrom differently or it's not anything to worry about?

Thanks!

IMO you want a soft playing synthetic in hybrid with a copolymer. The best options available through TW are Forten Sweet Synthetic Gut and Ektelon Power Play, both of which are softer than the options you present.

Of the ones you have, I know Bab SFP, PSG Original, and PSG Duraflex the best. Of these, I would go for PSGO because it's not as firm as PSGD, and it will retain its playability longer than Bab SFP.

I normally play with stiffer syn guts contrary to previous posters, PSGD and Wilson Stamina mainly. However to each man his own, you just have to test out what you like.

So to the question "Is the difference noticable between all those cheap syn gut out there?", i assume the answer is yes, even when in the crosses only. Well thanks!

honestly...OG micro isnt nearly as good as babolat SFP or wilson extreme. OG micro plays dead...no power, no spin, nothing.

but i use SPPP w/ wilson extreme and it's a great setup

For me, the answer is yes. For example, when I hybrid natural gut, I like to have Gosen Jim Courier in the crosses because it gives a slightly firmer stringbed than OG Micro. It's not a huge difference, but definitely noticeable.

To answer your question, with a poly main string, you probably won't notice much difference in the play with any of the strings you mentioned, especially if you're stringing the mains and crosses at the same tension, and they are all the same gauge.
