I know I saw it a while back. I was a single post with at least 10 different players set ups. You have to do a little experimentation to find your own comfort zone. I have been trying to maintain the original balance point while raising the SW without going past a static weight of around 340g. I know from experience that too much over 340 will cause arm fatigue for me after a set or 2.

So I measured my 315 at home today:

347.5g (w/ 2 Tourna wraps, Sampras damper)
5g lead (w/ 2g at 3, 2g at 9, and 1g at 12)
SW ~331
Balance 12.9" / 32.9cm / 4.5 points HL
Alu power mains / VS gut crosses

Seems a little heavier than most, and I haven't hit it yet. I realize I can cut ~6g by removing one of the overwraps, but what have you guys found as your favorite setups?
I got two @ 318 g, and one @ 314 g.

Mine weigh between 340 and 345 g with 4 g lead and an OG. So, it sounds like yours are pretty close since you have an extra g of lead and an extra OG.

Hey Spin,

Thanks for the heads up! What setup did you end of settling on with regards to lead placement?

I used the 1/4" wide tape.

2 continuous 8" strips from roughly 10 to 2 o'clock (1 strip on each side of the grommets).

May try to add some at 9 and 3 at some point just to see what it's like.

Graphene PP is definitely more powerful than the tec, or at least it has easier power. For me the spin potential is roughly the same. No contest as far as feel. Tec is great feeling stick, has that nice flex at impact. The prestige is very crisp feeling, which some don't like. I didn't mind it. I actually used the prestige specs as my model for how I have the tec set up now. Added lead to get the sw up around 325 like the prestige. The prestige is the best frame I've ever served with. Spin, power, it did everything I asked it to do. I can't really say anything bad about the prestige. The tec just seems to fit my liking a little more. Prestige may have been a little to powerful for me, which is partly due to the fact that I like to hit out but my strokes aren't that great fundamentally, so a really low powered frame helps me keep the ball in. Hope that helps a little.
The Tec was always rumored to be easier for spin than the prestige ...So I am surprised that you found both roughly the same. But I guess spin generation has to do with technique as well. What is heartening to read is that the tec has good flex and is great feeling although the stiffness is 67...
Do you play with the 18*20 or 16*19 ....The one I ordered is the 16*19

I am referring to the 315ltd 16x19, not the new 315 dynacore. The Ltd has an RA around 60, which gives it that flexy feel. Can't comment on the new 315, haven't hit it.

Yes please do not confuse these 2 frames, Egoista. They are about as different as it gets. The dynacore is a firm feeling frame. It plays unbelievably well, but its not soft like the limited. Instead it gives a much more solid feel, and the feedback is much less muted.

Yes I was under the assumption we were talking about the same frame and got excited about the flexy feel . My bad. . I'm looking forward to getting my frame .... Am curious after playing with head all my life and recently Donnay

I posted this elsewhere, but the mod has worked so well for me I thought I'd share it here with the peeps that are still using these frames.

My main point of reference is an nCode 6.1 95, so anyone familiar with the power level of that frame will have a sense of the power level I achieved with my 315, oh, and this is for the 16X19 version.

Recipe for a beefy, highly powered, Tfight 315 ltd, with incredible feel and a huge and generous sweetspot:

1. Replace leather with good synthetic replacement grip of choice (optional)

2. Inject 15 grams of silicone in the handle (adjust if leather was left on)

3. Add 12 grams of lead at 3&9, using a double layer of 6 inch lead tape on each side.

4. Perform Santeria, sprinkle with basalt to taste.

5. Take to court and blast groundies!

I have to say the end results are amazing. The weight at 3&9 really opens up the string bed, and made a relatively small sweetspot seem very generous. It's also the closest I've ever gotten a frame to play like a 6.1. I guess that makes sense given Wilson's PWS.

The power level went up 2 to 3 notches, definitely in the 6.1's ball park, and the plow and stability are amazing, and even though I could control the power with a full bed of multi, a hybrid, or even a full bed of poly would probably play even better, taming the power and adding a bit of zip.

The feel of the frame becomes so much more pronounced with the added weight. It flexes beautifully around the throat and the cupping effect of the stringbed, or dwell time, was addictive. I hit a couple of droppers from the back of the court that were just magic.

During the session I picked up my 6.1 twice to compare, and both times I put it back down after only a couple of minutes. Lately the 6.1 had been pummeling every contender mercilessly, but this version of Yoko was the first to hold it's ground. It didn't necessarily out class it in terms of raw performance, but the plusher feel and flex make for a much more arm friendly ride.

I really urge any 315 user to try this mod out. We have to keep in mind that the ltd. is essentially TF's pro stock hairpin, and at a starting SW of ~300, there's no getting around the fact that it needs lots of lead to really shine.

Final specs, silicone, lead and og:

355 grams static / 6.5 pts hl / 325-330 SW.

changing grip shape

I played 3/8ths(with overwrap) myself for years. Tried 1/4 about 6 months ago, what a difference. Maybe its in my head, but it just feels like I can get more whip on the racket with the 1/4(also with overwrap).
Nice thing about the tec's is they use the same pallet system as head. The 315's have that more rectangular grip like the prestiges. Lots of people don't like that, I actually do. It is doable to change them yourself, there are TT threads and youtube videos where its discussed. I looked into doing it myself, but it really didn't make much sense. I'm lucky enough to have an **** shop right down the road from me. For $40 they switch out the pallets, put a head buttcap on it with the trap door(the tec buttcaps are terrible looking with no trap door, btw) and rewrap it with the existing leather. Not worth doing it myself for the savings of a few bucks, and the risk of screwing it up.
Hey guys, I have a 1/4 grip size and don't like the grip shape either....I used a couple tounge depresser from md's office and now grip is more like wilson/prince shape....will hit in a few hours with it

hey all,,
I normally hit with the head prestige at around 48/50 tension
Finally got my 315 16*18 tfight today ....have given it for stringing today
look really forward to hitting with it......

however, would like to know did anyone else find the grip size abit small?
Mine is 4 1/4 I play with the prestige with a tourna undergrip and a wilson thin overgrip
will the same apply to the techni you think?

Also would tension do you guys normally string the techni with relative to what you hit with your other racquets?

I would use same string and tension so you can remove that as a variable for comparison purposes. Change it later if you want.
I played prestige before the tec, grip sizes seem same to me. Tec uses pallets like Head does.

I noticed one confusing this on my racquet. TW lists unstrung weight as 11.3 ounces I think. But the weight listed on my technifibre is 11.1 ounces. Is it plausible or have I been sold a lemon I your opinion?

315g unsrtung(hence the name) give or take 5grams. Around 330 strung.

So I had a brief hit for like 30 minutes today with my new 315 16
I will post more detailed reviews and my thoughts on the racquet the more I play with it.....

But so far I found it very nice on the slice. One could really cut the ball and make it skid.
Backhands were a little here and there....I guess coming from the microgel prestige this felt different....was overhitting

Forehands ( I hit with a western and heavy top) It is my weapon .
Well even though it is rumoured to be better for topspin sometimes I found I was not hitting a heavy ball with topspin....the topspin was of more of a slow nature I felt. Compared to the top I was getting with the microgel.
I just wonder if it was the first day of hitting with a freshly strung rac or what?
And I felt it to be a tad underpowered. When I was really flattening it out I felt my opponent could return the ball. With interest. I do not know whether it was my imagination or what.

Although it was only 2 grams less in weight than the microgel though one is 5 points hl and the microgel more well balanced with 7 pts hl.

Overall though I feel all around it was better for my game but just so far was not that happy with the results on my FH. Maybe the more I play with it I will gell more.
Did anyone else find it a tad underpowered or perfect?
Also do you find yourself hitting heavy top with it the same as your old racquet? (This is for the people who have not modded it)

Lastly, anyway to make it 7pts hl in case I decide to do it?

Would be greatly interested in your views and replies.

I might get more of them later If I become better with it lets see..

I finally have a pair of Dynacore 315's. beautiful rackets. Spin monsters, and fast feeling.
DO you feel it at all head heavy? WHat was your previous racquet?
By they way they have a great feeling and I second your :spin monsters"
Fast spin too. And brilliant for slicing...

Last thing how often are you breaking strings on this baby?
Mine are lasting in between two days and three hours(which leads me to believe that was a faulty string job) but on average three days

Also, I missed the note about the extra grommets and my offer may have taken the biscuit, let's go with your original number :)

To be slightly more on topic, I've added 4g of lead spanning 10 - 2 o clock and loving it. Swing weight is still pretty low but it hits a heavy ball!

Murray Fan has my previous setup above, 1 gram each at the corners plus the 1/2 gram at 12. I've been tinkering lately with no lead or extremely minimal lead as an experiment. Results have been mixed. Great stick speed. Obviously less beef on defensive shots. Have also tailweighted one of my sticks last two tomes out with putty literally just stuck onto the buttcap.

All experimental madness. Will go back to the Yonex setup this week to see of it feels after the two weeks of going very light.

MF: have tried 3/9 weight. Didn't do much for me. Not as much as Yonex setup or lead on the upper half. That being said, I usually always respond to lead up top vs lead at 3/9 on most sticks, for whatever reason. Something about the way I come through the ball, probably.
My two 16M LTD's just came in from a very nice eB purchase. I'm super surprised how overweight one of them is! TW lists strung weight of 328 (I'm assuming this is an average of many tested), where the one I got is 342 strung with one OG.

The other one is unstrung so I didn't get the chance to measure/match it, but I will try to do that in the next couple days. Any suggestions for lead setups for an all courter with 1hbh coming from the [k] 6.1 Tour 90? I have read most of this thread and it looks like the three most hyped setups are: All lead at 12 (max SW), lead @ 3:9 with a little bit at 12, and gads' yonex setup with 3g at 10&2, 1g at 4&8.

If you're reading this gads, can you tell me if that 3g is split between 10&2 (eg. 1.5g at 10 and 1.5 at 2, or whether its 3 at each position for a total of 6?) I would very much like to try your setup. Also, do you counterbalance in the handle at all?

342g is definitely on the very high side of the spectrum for that frame. Mine are around 335 including a 7g overwrap. I have 5g in the hoop for a total just over 340, which is the heaviest I can play well with. Still plays headlight, but has more plow for defensive block back shots. Since you bought it used, have you checked under the bumper for lead?

I did not. Got the package just as I was about to leave for work, and I did a quick weigh & balance on the strung frame. Depending on what's up I may cut out the strings and do some RDC measurements this afternoon.

Will check in when I've got the data.

Gads sold his ltds. to me. My current setup is 6 grams at 3&9 / 3 grams at 12 and 10 grams in the handle.

Try this setup, you will not be disappointed, especially if you're coming from a 6.1, as I was trying to mimic the specs of my 6.1 95's.

Great plow, still super whippy, and plush.

I am very interested in that setup. What's your final strung weight? I am going to cut out my strings on the Ltds today and check under the bumper for lead because mine came at 342g, 32cm. Do you just recommend pulling up the bumper a tiny bit with a screwdriver or something? I don't have replacement parts and don't want to pinch the grommets, possibly making me wait for a new bumper.

I'm also nervous with using silicone right away in the handle because that's permanent. I might wrap it with lead to start with, is that what you did?

Once unstrung it's easy to pull the bumper off a little with your fingers to check for lead.

With an overgrip, workshop out to 345-350 static, 7-6 pts hl, ~325 SW.

Your LTD at 342 is pretty strange. I bet there's something extra in the handle. Also, just buy some bluetac and stuff that in the handle instead of silicone, that's what I did and it's super easy to remove.

Got some RDC time today, here's the specs. Both frames had one Head overgrip wrap and nothing else (didn't want to remove the grip because wanted to get it all done quickly). No lead under the bumper. I guess my home scale was not that inaccurate after all for a $5 kitchen scale.

UNSTRUNG Frame 1:
323g
31cm
277 SW

UNSTRUNG Frame 2:
30.75cm
320g
281SW

I then strung both up with my current GOTO, Tonic+mains and Revolve crosses at 55/50.

STRUNG Frame 1:
340g
31.5cm
307SW

STRUNG Frame 2:
338g
31.75cm
312 SW

Seems more correct to me.... I want to add some weight but don't want to quite cross into my K90 territory (both of mine are 370g strung with only one OG).... So I think your setup might be out just in terms of stock weight, serge. Just considering what I want to do, it seems like the most realistic setup would be to go super polarized, add maybe 3g at 12 for a 15pt SW boost, and counterbalance with 5g in the handle.

TW customization tool says I can get to 320SW and maintain balance if I add 6g total at 10&2, and 4g right at the buttcap. That's the highest I might go with these bad boys, unless I try the trick of pulling off the leather and adding a light synthetic grip to give me more headroom.

If they both still have the leather grip, them you're only like 5 grams off from my specs.

If you remove the leather and put on a synthetic, you'll shave off some static weight, and you'll need less in the handle to get your desired balance.

The reason I suggest weight at 3&9, is because the Ltd's have a pretty low twistweight, especially compared to at 6.1, and I found it flimsy against harder hitters without any lead there.

I think I told you in the holic thread, these ltd's are blank canvases, and the low swingweight and twistweight allow to get as creative as you want with your tinkering.

I wouldn't worry too much about staying at or slightly going over 350 grams with the ltd's because they swing super fast, and you can really fine tune the SW.

Anyway, have fun with them.

Just had a great hit with my 315s - did one with your setup (6g at 3&9, 2g at noon, 10 in the handle), and one with 4g at noon and 10g handle. I liked the polarized one way way more. It was powerful, easy to get RHS, stable on the backhand, all that great jazz that I get from my K90s with softer feel and a bigger head.

I am going to do another experiment where I move the lead from 4g at noon and 10g in the handle, to 6g at noon and 6 in the handle. See how high I can push the SW before it becomes too much for me...

I want to make sure that the honeymoon period is over before I start trading away my old frames and stocking up on these however.

You're supposed to wear gloves when handling lead tape?? Uh-oooh.
If you were handling large amounts of lead as part of your job on a daily basis, maybe. Tweaking your racquets? I wouldn't feel pregnant about it.

As long as you don't eat it, you should be fine.
