T Fight 315?

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for you help over the last few months. Unfortunately, I've fallen in love with another racquet. I am now ditching my 16Ms, and moving in with my GXT Prestige Pros. It all started when I was on the rebound from a rough relationship with the APD 2013. I thought we were soul mates, but then she turned on me. After years of great play, she gave me the TE. I thought I was ready for a cushy, more stable relationship, and landed on the Tec. She was very demanding, and took a lot of changing, from both of us. She was a little skinny for my taste, so I had to put some weight on her. I was so happy that I even invested in 4 extra grommet sets! Things were going great, then a new racquet showed up. Turns out I prefer the younger flashier type after all. She still makes me work for it, but it took zero changing to her frame for me to love how she feels. I feel kind of bad, because the reason I like the GXT Prestige Pros is; because of my focus on form, that the Tec made me go through, just to make it work with her.

OK, bro.
See you back here next week.

I got 6 of the new 315ltd sent to me by Tecnifibre. I've been using them for 2 weeks ands it's a great frame. Really solid upgrade from the old one.... larger sweets pot!

I cannot see your pic.
What is the difference feel-wise between the old and the new version? Does the new one hit as nice as the old one?
What version do you play? 16x19 or 18x20?
Thanks.

I'll have to play with it more, but the 16x19 feels like it has a smaller sweetspot compared to the TT95

Tinkered with my Tec 315 Limited 16M (2013)... it is now 375g... I added about 36g to the handle (including an overgrip) and another 3g total around the 3 and 9 o'clock positions (so now I have Tungsten tape from 2-4 o'clock and 8-10 o'clock), as well as some tungsten tape at 12 o'clock and a small rubber band. The racquet still feels easy to swing and is still quite maneuverable... at least on air swings in the backyard. The string bed feels plush and stable with an expanded sweet spot (according to the trusted bounce test... :)).

Can't wait to test it properly...

That's a man stick now!!!! :) Let us know how it plays!!!! I miss this thread....I wish I was playing tennis instead of working like a maniac :( Miss all the crazy racquet musings and fanatically searching for racquet/string/grip/customization information (all the while freakishly checking my USPS tracking to see if the current frame of the week had moved closer to my mailbox!!!!) I still love my Tecs :) Life is simple and boring now that I haven't switched frames :(

How dare you?! Life is always exciting when your crushing forehands with the 315's!

I played with my Tec 315 Limited 16M after some time. Really enjoyed it. Also tried the new Dunlop Srixons as well but that's for a different thread.

I had wrist tendonitis and after a hiatus of a month I slowly moved back into tennis. Removed leather grip and installed a soft synthetic one on the Tec. Brought weight down to 333g strung with overgrip (about 10-12g less than usual). It is definitely much easier on the wrist with more cushioned feedback using synthetic grip and keeping a lower static weight (as advised by pros and the doc). Feel has gone a bit and feedback has become considerably muted. I like it still, to be honest. Will revert to leather once I feel up to it. So far with all my racquets, I feel with the right balance and swingweight, I can easily pull off 330-333g static weight playing with high level rec & college players. Might not even go back to 342g-345g range.

Stick still hits a mean ball by the way. I think the leather took away more HL balance and now since stick is less HL, I can feel the power a bit more. My wrist is happy.

Very interesting! Just went to the doc today for wrist pain and he said it’s tendonitis. I have never had Tendonitis or tennis elbow or anything before so I was a little confused. I started thinking to myself earlier today what I have been doing different and just before it flared up I started playing with leather grips, it’s the only thing I have changed. I was going to actually create a thread to ask if this was a possible cause. Good to hear that you are on the mend. I may need to go back to regular grips.

Thanks @JohnBPittsburgh ... I know what you mean about checking of USPS and the anticipation of new gear arriving... however, I now have so much stuff that it's ridiculous... Ever since I acquired my last 4 racquets (Fischers - which are on their way to me in the mail), I have begun to feel like the cup is full (if you know what I mean) and am not really looking for more racquets to acquire... it's somewhat sad, but a relief in a way as the constant searching was not good for the wallet... :)

The cup is never full until you buy the latest inverted Blade CV. I liked it so much that I exchanged it today for a UT I already have given away for the chance to once more experience the thrill of revitalizing expectation. Dum spiro spero... ;)

The most helpful advice I can give you is switch to softer replacement grips and lower the static weight after you have rested wrist for a few weeks. These two things will make a big difference. I spoke with quite a few pros and even specialists who recommended that. Leather has a jarring impact on contact and coupled with a high static weight can hurt wrist over long term. I played with leather with o.g for over a decade. Now I wonder why.

I'm 34, played Div II tennis and H.S before that and have decent technique, movement and never had any issues with GE/TE, shoulder or wrist related to tennis. Tendonitis crept up on me and unless one rests and takes good care of it, pain can become chronic. I was at a stage where even picking up the baby car seat and putting it in or taking it out was becoming painful. Simple everyday things involving wrist movement had me wincing with pain. For me, pain was on the ulnar side near the wrist joint. Wife made me go to the doctor. Had xray done first. Then MRI after a week. I took a whole month off after that, had wrist in a splint to immobilize it too. Rested it. Iced it everyday for 10-15 mins three times. Took ibuprofen. Happy to report no pain now and I'm heading back to 100%.

Wish you best of luck! Just rest for a a few weeks, ice wrist (that helps a lot as it reduces inflammation of tendons) take anti-inflamatories and immobilize wrist. It definitely works. And when making your way back in, switch grip and reduce static weight if you play with 12oz+. We can't all be Djokovics and Murrays unfortunately with those crazy high weighted sticks :)

Hope is eternal ... However, I have so many racquets now that I truly like, that the only way forward is replacing one with another... then you need to be certain that the replacement is worth it...

Recommended lead placement on this racket? 10&2 vs 3&9(+12?) for a larger sweet spot and some more power ?
The optimum TW, SW, balance, MgR/i, weight, balance, and RW are different for everyone, what are you looking for?

Keeping about the same 7p balance as my current racket, not going over 325gr unstrung, while increasing sw to current 320 or so and if possible expand sweetspot, more flattish strokes than windshield with moderate topspin

OK go buy a racket, let me know what the SW and balance are after you string it and I'll let you know.

Ltd16 already on the way. Have no ability to measure SW, assuming its the average TW measured in their specs, do you have a recommendation for a starting point?

FOr the 16 main which has a 308 SW you need to add about 2 g at 23 and 9 (4 g total) that will add 3.5 pts to the SW (311.5.) to get the SW up to 320 you need about 2.5 g at 12. to get the balance back to 7 pts (32 cm) you need 5.5 g at 8 cm from the butt and an OG should do the trick.

No problem but remember these figures are approximate based on the racket being the same as TW's specs. And I'm assuming you're talking about the Dynacore 315 LTD and not the 2013 315 Limited.

Yes, I wanted a second softer racket and liked the price and painting of the new 315 ltd which I ordered, have no experience in modifications but from the talk on the forum about it being a racket begging for customization, I needed a starting point, which you provided.

Since the reviews indicate that the original 315 LTD fits better for my needs, I decided to just give 1 of 11 a new look.

Now just to play with people's heads... Pun intended... Paint on "HEAD" on the outside of the throat and a tiny PT965 on the inside.... and if it's a 16M... put MURRAY on the other side (inside throat)... ;)

Removed lead from 12 'Oclock under grommets, strung up again, and hit for a few minutes with my 315 Limited. Just wanted to try different weight variations than my usual. All I can say is what a difference a few grams makes (if applied at the right place). Stock with no weight at 12 and the stick felt anemic and low low power. Add 3 grams to 12 and it transforms. Same comfort and control.
